Black Ops Call of the Dead Easter Egg Guide: Solo & Co-Op Steps

Call of the Dead brings forth a celebrity cast with Michael Rooker, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Danny Trejo, and Robert Englund. These four celebrities must fight their way through rounds of the undead, all while evading their director, George Romero, to help Ultimis in the Call of the Dead easter egg! This guide goes through all the steps for co-op and solo players so you can beat the COTD easter egg easily in Black Ops Zombies!

You can complete this easter egg completely solo without mods, which rewards the Stand-in achievement (and a Wunderwaffe every time you kill George Romero). However, co-op players can also get the Ensemble Cast achievement. The co-op easter egg also has 4 extra steps that are explained below.

Call of the Dead Easter Egg Steps Overview

1. Turn on the Power
2. Interact with Ultimis and give them the Fuse.
3. Use explosives to destroy 4 Shield Generators.
4. Acquire the Frozen Vodka (co-op only)
5. Solve the Lighthouse Dials puzzle (co-op only)
6. Find the four Radios (co-op only)
7. Interact with the ship's wheel and levers.
8. Activate the four Fog Horns (co-op only)
9. Shoot a zombie with the V-R11
10. Kill the human with explosives in the Lighthouse to get the Golden Rod.
11. Give Ultimis the Golden Rod.

Step #1: Turn on the Power

Your first objective is to activate the Power Switch to bring power to the map. Not only will this activate Pack-a-Punch and Perks, but it's also required to allow you to interact with Ultimis and begin the first major step of the easter egg. You can turn on the power by heading right from spawn and upstairs in the large ship.

Step #2: Interact with Ultimis & Get the Fuse

With the power now on, head into the building under the stairs of the Lighthouse's entrance. Past PhD Flopper, and down the stairs, you'll find a metallic bunker door. You can melee this door to hear quotes from Ultimis. This will spawn a Fuse upstairs (in the PhD Flopper room), which can be found in any of the three locations:

• On a table to the left, which contains batteries.
• On the table to the right, close to PhD Flopper.
• Against a cabinet on the right.

With the Fuse, interact with the panel to the right of the door where Ultimis is trapped to insert it. You can now melee the door again to hear more quotes from Ultimis, which will activate four generators with blinking red lights.

Step #3: Destroy the Four Shield Generators

There are now four generators with blinking red lights, and you can destroy them with explosives. This will be easy enough to do just by cooking a grenade and timing the throw, but you can also use explosive weapons from the Mystery Box to make it easier:

• The first generator is directly opposite the Ultimis room.
• The next generator can be found behind the zombie barrier at Stamin-Up, which is found downstairs through the left doors in the Lighthouse.
• The next generator can be found at the back of the ship (to the right, where Double Tap is), close to the rock.
• The final generator can be found to the left of the walkway that takes you to the lower part of the boat.

With all four generators destroyed, you can return to Ultimis and melee the door once again to get yet another quote and proceed to the next step.

Step #4: Grab the Frozen Vodka

Nikolai has requested Vodka, and there are four potential spawn locations for this vodka. One player needs to stand directly underneath the frozen Vodka, whereas the second player needs to melee it to drop it so that the first player can grab it before it smashes:

• On the steps leading out of PhD Flopper towards the outside of the Lighthouse.
• On the railing to the right of the Mystery Box outside the Lighthouse entrance.
• On the ship, on a railing facing Double Tap on the floor above.
• On the ship, on a railing just before the drop to the other end of the boat.

Once you have the Vodka, interact with the tube to the left of where you placed the Fuse to send Ultimis the Vodka. You can now melee the door again to interact with Ultimis, which starts the next step.

The Vodka step is only for the co-op easter egg, so if you're playing solo, then skip to the next step.

Step #5: Solve the Lighthouse Dials Puzzle

There are four colored dials inside the Lighthouse. On each floor, there is a dial, and you need to interact with it in a very specific order mentioned below so that they read (from top to bottom) 2-7-4-6. You NEED to interact with the dials exactly as shown below:

1. Head to the bottom floor purple dial and turn the number to 6.
2. Head to the second floor and DON'T interact with the blue dial. Instead, count how many interactions it would take for the dial to reach number 4.
3. Head to the ground floor and interact with the orange dial the same number of times as it would take for the blue dial to reach number 4.
4. Still at the orange dial, DON'T interact with it, but instead count how many times it would take for the orange dial to reach number 7.
5. Head to the top floor to find the yellow dial and interact with it the same number of times as it would take the orange dial to reach number 7.
6. Still at the yellow dial, count how many times it would take for the yellow dial to reach number 2. With the number now remembered, turn the yellow dial to number 2.
7. Return to the purple dial on the bottom floor and turn the dial the same number of times it took for the yellow dial to reach number 2.
8. Head back to the blue dial on the second floor and interact with it until it's number 4.

Once your numbers from top to bottom read 2-7-4-6, you can start the next step.

The Dials step is also only for co-op easter egg runs, so solo players can ignore this and skip the next step.

Step #6: Interact with the Four Radios

There are four radios around the map, and they must be interacted with in a specific order:

1. Below the Power Switch, to the left of the Mystery Box spawn on a shelf of servers.
2. On a barrel inside the same room as Stamin-Up.
3. Inside a container on the back of the ship.
4. On a locker underneath the stairs with the Ultimis crew.

The Radios step is yet another co-op easter egg step, so skip this section if you're playing solo.

Step #7: Interact with the Ship's Wheel and Levers

Head to the Power Switch room and you'll find 3 levers and a wheel. You need to interact with these items in a specific order:

1. Pull the lever on the left once.
2. Pull the lever on the right three times.
3. Turn the wheel of the ship twice to the right.

Step #8: Activate the Four Foghorns

There are now four Fog Horns around the map that you also need to interact with in a specific order:

1. By the ice water, to the right of the outside area of the Lighthouse (by the AK Wall-Buy).
2. Down the ice slide at the bottom of the Lighthouse toward Speed Cola, directly to the right after the slide.
3. Opposite the first foghorn, outside the Lighthouse door on the left.
4. At the bottom of the ice slide, behind a rock on the left.

The Fog Horns step is co-op only, so skip ahead if you're a solo player.

Step #9: Get the V-R11 and Shoot a Human with Explosives in the Lighthouse

You now need to spin the Mystery Box to get the V-R11. With this weapon, take a zombie to the bottom of the Lighthouse under the spiral stairs. Shoot the zombie with the V-R11, and he will turn into a human and get sucked into a green light that takes him up the stairs.

You need to immediately start shooting the human with an explosive weapon, like a Ray Gun, until he drops down as if he needs to be revived. Once he reaches the top of the lighthouse in this downed state, the Golden Rod will be dropped at the bottom of the stairs.

Step #10: Grab the Golden Rod and Take it to Ultimis

Take the Golden Rod from the bottom of the Lighthouse and take it back to Ultimis. There's a tube that you can interact with to send up the Golden Rod. The Fuse will now begin to spark, so just melee it to reactivate it, which will allow Ultimis to teleport away, thus completing the easter egg!

You will need to complete the Call of the Dead easter egg for the Golden Rod, which is used in the Moon easter egg (but only for Black Ops 1).
