Today wraps up my first full week at Apple, and I have never been so happy in my career. There is a quiet calm that comes with feeling like you are where you are supposed to be... and I feel it.
The last year and a half was a nightmare. Getting my family through each month felt like a magic trick. It was an incredible amount of work, and ever more sacrifice. But it would be a bold face lie to say that I did all that by myself. SO many of you played an invaluable role to get us here, and I wanted to take a moment to thank some of you. This is NOT an exhaustive list, and I am sorry if there is anyone who feels like they were left out. There are SO many people I could thank, and its just hard to hold everyone in my head all at once. Also there is a maximum number of mentions on a LinkedIn post 😅
This also doesn't cover my new incredible team at Apple Arcade. Ya'll will get your flowers some other time 🥰
Jared Yeager,
Nick A.,
Patrick Skelly,
Rebeca Godin, Veronica Gonzalez – I always knew when I opened LinkedIn every day that I would find a message from one of you telling me to check out a role you found me. I can’t express how important this was to keeping me going when it felt like all my opportunities had dried up.
Andy Lunique,
Ash Fazio, Tina Hernandez, Daryl Nelson,
Michael C. Rogers,
Kevin Chao,
Greg Phillips,
Vanessa Vanasin,
Xandra Chateaubriand,
Marisa Van De Walle – You all saw “Hey can I get a referral link to this role?” more than anybody. And you did. Without Question. Every time. You put me forward for roles using your good name over and over again, because you believed in me. Thank you.
Ari Schwartz,
David Jaloza,
Toby Bushart,
Allison Avalon Irons,
Asher Little,
Brian DeWolf,
Troy Lambert, CSM, CSPO – The people who checked in. Just to make sure I was doing ok. We often didn’t talk about work, or the job search, or anything aside from how things are going. I needed that more often than you realized. You made me still feel human on days that I didn’t.
Heather Rim,
Matt Barney,
Cheryl Platz,
Sean Dunn,
Rachel DiPaola,
Chris T.,
Mike DeLaet,
Alexander Seropian,
Nicole Van Dawark,
Hollis Beck,
Richard King,
Michael Jacob,
Casey Pelkey,
Stephanie Myers – Mentors, Teachers, and the folks that helped me make myself the as marketable as I could be in this crazy job market where nobody is marketable. Help with honing my craft, late night resume reviews, thoughtful advice, or just reminding me that I wasn’t the problem. I’m not really sure what I would have done without you.
Lastly, I would absolutely not have made it through this without the unwavering support of my partner,
Ivy Turner. We got through this like we knew we would.
Looking up at this post now that I have written it really makes me realize how many people it took to get us to the other side of the most challenging time of my life. And I will forever be in your debt.
All my love,
Steph
