Overweighting present realities in investment decisions can miss the fact that investments succeed/fail based on future realities.

Andrew Roloson liked thisAndrew Roloson liked thisWhen it comes to evaluating talent, the strongest correlation to a successful hire is someone who has a lot of "connective tissue" in their background. Connective tissue being colleagues who followed the candidate across multiple companies and/or the candidate being brought on by the same manager/leader/investor across multiple companies. It makes complete sense - no greater compliment than the people who've worked with you or whom you've worked for wanting to do it again and again.

Come help us make the world’s biggest strategy game weirder, sharper, more culturally contagious, and push game marketing into realms it’s never been before. Whether you’re a brand manager who’s a strategist at heart, or a strategist ready to cross over to the client side and turn your insights into actual work, hit me up. Tip for my agency people: comp here has a few more layers to it.

Andrew Roloson liked thisAndrew Roloson liked thisReframing mindsets is hard to do. What is clear is that in an AI world many white collar desk job workers (including myself) will go from doing the work to orchestrating agents to do 10x-100x the work one used to do. To make that transition, you have to burn the boat on what you used to do and how you used to do it. To burn the boat, one has to fundamentally reframe how they think about their job. That’s the hard mental leap - you used to do x or y and now you’re an agent orchestrator. Even though many certainly have the intellectual capacity to make the transition, many won’t because they won’t make the mindset shift. Worldview always drives actions - wrong worldview, wrong actions; right worldview, right actions.

I always marvel at how much gets accomplished in a short three months. It’s usually the result of: 1. Clarity of strategy 2. Operational decisiveness 3. Execution pace Those 3 elements are the enablers of great execution.

Andrew Roloson liked thisHonored and privileged to have been the moderator for the Fireside Chat with Healthcare Leaders at El Camino Health. Thank you Artimisha Curl for believing in me and allowing me to help guide the conversation with such an amazing panel!Andrew Roloson liked thisOne moment can change the trajectory of someone’s life. Our Voices That Matter Fireside Chat Speaker Series was beyond anything I could have imagined. Eleven phenomenal panelists from across the nation joined us at El Camino Health, each bringing their own brilliance, lived experience, and unique perspective to the stage. Together, we explored health equity, community impact, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, black maternal health disparities, resilience, mentorship, career development, purpose, and what it truly means to lead with authenticity and care. These incredible powerhouses did not simply share their accomplishments. They shared their journeys. They showed up with honesty, vulnerability, wisdom, and practical tools that our audience could immediately apply to their personal and professional lives. That is the kind of leadership we need today. Leadership that is authentic. Leadership that is courageous. Leadership that is compassionate. Leadership that creates space for others to feel seen, heard, valued, and inspired. It was truly an honor to curate this experience and welcome each of you to the El Camino Health stage. You exceeded every expectation. People are still talking about the lessons, the stories, and the impact you made. To each of our panelists, and moderator we thank you for your time. Thank you for your vulnerability. Thank you for your wisdom. Most importantly, thank you for saying yes. You are deeply appreciated, and your voices truly matter. Andrew Roloson liked thisAndrew Roloson liked thisWe're hiring a Director of Finance at Lil Snack 🍿 Great opportunity to own all things finance across the business: Budgeting, Monthly Close and AP/AR, FP&A, Finance Ops, etc. Small and profitable team with real revenue, partners like Netflix and Peacock — and partner economics interesting enough that we need someone to own our models, not just the close. Remote team (US only), greater NYC area a plus. You'd work closely and directly with me and our founders, with deep visibility into every aspect of our business and strategy — small team, no layers, no mystery. If you or someone you know is eager for an opportunity like this at an early-stage startup — pls apply or ping me! https://lnkd.in/gZJ-jwkx

𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐚𝐭. 🛡️🧠 Last Thursday in Santa Monica, we featured Mandy Teefey(Co-Founder & CEO, Wondermind) and Ryan Tanaka (Principal at Diversis,$3B+ AUM) at our monthly Private Founders Dinner, where we discussed shifting business models and how to build software that resists AI commoditization. Key insights from the evening: 🧠 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭. Wondermind’s shift from media to a mental fitness ecosystem demonstrates the power of a holistic brand. Success isn't just starting a conversation; it’s providing the lifestyle tools that sustain it. 📈 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬. Don't ignore the "quiet" demand. Wondermind’s focus on male-focused mental health generated 2 billion hits, confirming a massive gap in the market for lifestyle-oriented mental fitness. 🧩 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐈. The best protection against AI disruption is proprietary data. Investors are looking for "tool-agnostic" companies that use AI as a layer but own the exclusive datasets and complex workflows that models can't easily replicate. 🤝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐏𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐬. Managing multiple revenue streams is like running several companies at once. Scaling founders must solidify their primary engine before expanding, ensuring the core mission stays intact during growth. 🍷 Deep tactical dives happened over an upscale dinner in Santa Monica, fostering curated connections between LA’s top founders and funders. A huge thank you to Mandy Teefey and Ryan Tanaka for their insights, and to our co-hosts Anand Mehta and Darien Pun from Gunderson Dettmer for making this incredible evening possible. We also really appreciate those who made the 2.5-hour drive from OC to join us, it means a lot that you took the time to be there. Hiring your first employee in California comes with more responsibility than most founders expect. As of December 31, 2025, even early-stage startups are legally required to offer a retirement benefit, and missing it can mean penalties that hurt your runway. In our latest blog, we cover: • When the mandate applies and when you are exempt • CalSavers versus a private 401(k) • Why many startups choose a 401(k) despite the free option • How to stay compliant without adding manual work If you are planning to hire in California or already have employees there, this is worth a read.
