I’m currently on maternity leave through October, soaking up the newborn snuggles, adjusting to life with two little ones, and enjoying some time with my family. Especially when you find an opportunity that aligns with your values of inclusion, creativity, and accountability. Well, that happened! So, today I start a new role as the Sr Director, PMO & User Experience at Backblaze, reporting directly to the CTO Dan Spraggins! It's wild to start a new gig after spending 23 years at HP, but I feel up to the challenge. I am looking forward to learning a lot of new things from very talented people. Here is to fresh starts!

I fell in love with the database work in the first week, I met many people I now enjoy working with over the next months, and I discovered along the way that I am proud of the end-prodcut that we create. Cody McGinley reacted on thisCody McGinley reacted on thisGretel passed away peacefully in her sleep today. She was 18 years, 7 months and 24 days old. She was very loved and took care of me as much as I took care of her. I know a lot of you out there knew and loved Gretel. Know that she passed away in the best possible way you can. May we all be so lucky. While today is very sad, I'm also overwhelmed with gratitude that I had such an amazing furry soul-mate to share so many of my life and career adventures with. We lived in Austin, L.A., all over San Fran Bay, Montana, Colorado, and Florida. She worked in offices all over California and maybe credited on more games than me. She was such a sweet and smart little companion. The kind you that you read about in children's stories. Maybe she deserves one. <3

Cody McGinley reacted on thisCody McGinley reacted on thisI often think about the amazingly talented teams I've had a chance to work with over the years. I've been crazy lucky in that regard. Today, as I'm sipping my coffee and enjoying the Texas morning, before it turns into the surface of the sun, I was thinking of my SunPower team. Joining a new industry is always a steep learning curve, but getting up to speed on Fabs, Modcos, solar R&D, international supply chain, power electronics, utility scale power (international), commerical power and the fast turns residential market was like the old saying about drinking from a fire hose. My team there was absolutely kick ass. They had to be to navigate the ride we call the solarcoaster. So here's to all the folks still dedicated to changing the way the world is powered.
