Thousands of games are currently available on Nintendo Switch, and there are a ton of demos out there for many of them. Not just Nintendo, but also third-parties are offering demos. We’ve now put together a comprehensive list of what’s out there.

Since our reader base is English-speaking, that’s what we’re focusing on here. In other words, we’re highlighting Switch demos that you can find in North America and Europe. Japan has a few extra demos on its end, but a majority of them are for titles that are not currently being sold in the west and are only playable in Japanese.

Onimusha Way of the Sword demo

A new demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword is being made available on Nintendo Switch 2 starting today, Capcom has announced.

The game previously received a demo on other platforms. Nintendo Switch 2 players can now join in on the fun. Additionally, this is an updated version of the original demo featuring a second quest exploring the Oni Refuge. Capcom says: “This surreal stage features an early slice of the story where players are introduced to new gameplay mechanics and the towering boss Daidara.”

Falcom just released a demo for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and the opening movie is in.

The demo can be accessed on Nintendo Switch now. Note that there are no plans for a Nintendo Switch 2 demo, though the Switch 1 version can be played on the newer system via backwards compatibility.

Moonlighter 2 release date

Original: Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault has its release date on Nintendo Switch 2, with 11 Bit Studios and Digital Sun confirming its availability for September 2, 2026. Additionally, a demo is going live on the Nintendo eShop today.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault was confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year. It follows the original game which came to the original Nintendo Switch back in 2018.

Here’s the latest information about the sequel:

NIS America has announced that Disgaea Mayhem has received a demo on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Players can download and try it starting today ahead of the full launch on July 23.

Disgaea Mayhem is a new action-focused spin-off of the Disgaea series that swaps turn-based strategy for fast-paced, real-time combat. Players control the mercenary N.A., using seven different weapon types while leveling up, recruiting demons, and growing stronger through the franchise’s signature progression systems.

Nintendo has just announced that a demo for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is now available for free on Nintendo Switch 2. Players can experience the game’s first chapter, and save data can be transferred to the full version if they decide to purchase it later.

Originally released on May 21, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a platformer that blends puzzle-solving and exploration. Players take control of the lovable Yoshi as he helps a living encyclopedia known as Mr. E recover its lost memories and restore its missing pages.

Brigandine Abyss demo

NIS America and Happinet are bringing a demo of Brigandine Abyss to Nintendo Switch 2, they announced today. The download goes live on July 30, 2026.

The demo lets players access the first two seasons of the Gran Dragnica and Scarlet Will story campaigns. Keep in mind, however, that save data does not transfer to the full version.

Rhythm Heaven Groove demo

Ahead of the game’s upcoming launch, Nintendo announced that Rhythm Heaven Groove is getting a demo. It will be available on Nintendo Switch starting today.

Players can try out select rhythm games. These include the single-player experiences Hoop Trundling and multiplayer Rhythm Tweezers. 

Here’s some information about the title:

Digimon Story: Time Stranger will be on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch next month, and to prepare fans for the launch, Bandai Namco just put out a demo. It can be downloaded via the Nintendo eShop pages now worldwide.

The first part of the demo offers the opening of the main game in its entirety. This lets players experience exploration, battles, conversation, and Digivolution. Worth noting, save data transfers to the full game.

To prepare fans for this month’s launch, Nintendo has announced a demo for Star Fox. Nintendo Switch 2 owners can grab it today.
