Companion Jar | Elden Ring

The Companion Jar is a Talisman in Elden Ring.

A talisman given by the jars to their friends. Raises potency of thrown jars.

Though the jars are brought to life by human flesh and blood, they are all rather kindly folk. Perhaps they were made to be better than their innards.

Companion Jar Effects

This Talisman increases the damage inflicted by throwing pots by 20%. Note that this Talisman won't increase the buildup points inflicted by your pots; only the damage is affected by this item.

How To Get The Companion Jar

This Talisman is the reward for completing Alexander the Iron Fist's Questline.

Alexander The Iron Fist Questline

1. The first step is to find the Saintsbridge Site of Grace. It's located in the northern area of Limgrave. Continuing west after that Site of Grace will trigger an NPC asking for help on the hill to the left of the road; here, you'll find a giant jar named Alexander the Iron Fist. He's stuck in a hole; you must accept to help him out, then use heavy attacks on its back to free him.

2. Now, you must progress through the game as usual until you activate the festival that leads to the battle against Starscourge Radahn. The safest way to do this is by activating the Grand Lift of Dectus. Once you do this, head to Caelid and reach the Impassable Greatbridge Site of Grace, which leads to the Redmane Castle plaza. Here, you'll find Alexander once again; talk with him and exhaust all of his dialogues. After that, start the battle against Radahn by talking to Jerren.

3. Upon defeating Radahn, you'll see Alexander near the unlocked Site of Grace, collecting things from the ground. Talk to him and exhaust his dialogues.

4. Alexander will move to Mt. Gelmir, so you must move there. First, reach the Grand Lift of Dectus, then move north from it. Here, you'll find both the Altus Plateau Site of Grace and, further north, the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace.

Head northeast from here to find some rock platforms you can climb up, and as you get to the top, head northwest towards the giant mountain. You'll find the Seethewater River Site of Grace here.

5. The next step is to reach the Seethewater Terminus Site of Grace. First, head north, following the river stream. Eventually, you'll find a larger zone where the Seethewater Cave is. This giant zone works as a bifurcation; take the path to the northwest to continue. Keep following the water. After a long trip, you'll reach the Seethewater Terminus Site of Grace.

6. From this Site of Grace, head southwest. Here, you'll find a large magma lake, where you'll battle the Magma Wyrm. You must defeat it to continue. Deeper in the lake and behind a rock pillar, you'll find Alexander. Speak to him, and he'll toss you the Jar helm.

7. Alexander will move once again, this time, to the Mountaintops of the Giants. You'll get here by defeating Morgott, the Omen King and getting access to the Grand Lift of Rold. You'll have to go through the entire zone until you reach the Church of Repose. From there, head east towards the Forge of the Giants, where you'll battle the Fire Giant. Alexander will be present as a summon on a golden sign. Make sure you invoke him to progress on his questline.

8. Get up the Forge of the Giants, rest at the Site of Grace and Talk to Melina. This will burn the Erdtree, transporting you to Crumbling Farum Azula. Note that doing this will stop any other questline you are following, so try to finish all before doing this step.

9. Progress through Crumbling Farum Azula to the point where you reach and defeat the Godskin Duo. From the room where you fought them, head north and cross the door, go downstairs and drop to the zone below once outside. Use the entrance to the left and go across the next room, then reach the edge of the platform, where you'll see a pillar working as a bridge. Jump towards it and continue to the next platform.

Continue through the room with the dragon statues until you find the Beastman. Defeat him and go up the spiral staircase to the right. Once at the top, go west to find a fog wall. You'll need a Stonesword Key to open it. Use the elevator, which will take you to the Dragon Temple Lift Site of Grace, then go out that room and head to the left until you see a staircase. Go to the top of it and start moving west, over the structures. Continue until you can't go west anymore. You'll find Alexander here.

10. Speaking with Alexander will activate a duel agaisnt him. If you win, he'll die, granting you the Shard of Alexander. If you die, you can take on the challenge again until you beat him. You'll receive the Shard of Alexander shortly after that. You'll also get Alexander's Innards, a Key Item you must take to Jar Bairn, who is located in Jarburg.

11. Head to Jarburg and find Jar Bairn. Talk and give him Alexander's Innards, then reload the area. You'll find the Companion Jar in the same place Jar Bairn was. Jarburg's location is marked on the map below. You must head to Liurnia of the Lakes and find the Artist's Shack Site of Grace. From there, head southeast towards the cliff, where you'll find some platforms to descend to the zone below. The Jarburg Site of Grace will be nearby.
