Iron Flask Location & Where to Find
- Location: The Risen Road, Zhentarin locked chest.
Quest: Find the Missing Shipment. You have 3 different options:
- Give the Iron Flask item to Gale.
- Give it to Zarys, the Zhentarim, and you will gain their favor. She promises you more jobs in Baldur's Gate.
- Keep it and give it to the wizard who hired the Zhentarim, in Baldur's Gate. The chest must be unopened or they will know.

If you're planning to keep this item and use it later in game just keep in mind that the Beholder inside the flask will always be level 5. I tossed the flask into the training room at Crèche Y'llek and shut the door. It was amazing xD

I turned it over, got the reward and the upgraded shop, then pickpocketed her and the merchant out of everything of value during combat. Then killed them all. Most profitable 20 minutes of all act 1.

I unleashed that my camp for the hope that other companions (not in my party) would also gain exp, seems not working.

In act 3, if you do not take the jar in act 2, it will found on one of the enemy zhent during the fight for the guild in the sewers. if you kill them fast enough, they will not be able to use it and it will still have the captured beholder inside it.

I used the spirit during the fight with Balthazar would recommend. Did a good job going after the little guys.

Can you use it to store other NPC? (after emptying it and kill the creature inside)?
Used this on the ledge above the githyanki patrol, then pushed the Spectator off the edge and let in mess with the patrol while I sniped from above. It was glorious(unless Sarth is early in the turn order, then she just does 100 damage to it in one turn).

In my quest for better loot, I accidentally opened the shipment before realizing it was the one for the mission. And when delivering the destination I was about killed for having already opened it.
I then randomly inspected the flask and opened it. Leading to another fight. Which I killed the big eye and got 150 XP.
I'm stumbling my way because this is all new to me. But damn is it fun. Crazy how many different ways this could have gone. I wonder if my decisions will impact something later. Probably less allies.

You can get this in act 3. Dunno if there is any point- but it was fun to find it after letting the Zents keep it in Act 1.

Anyone know if the empty iron flask can be used in later acts? Seems like it should be a possible alternate solution to something.

I opened the Flask and killed the creature inside. It gave everyone 150 XP, and had no loot.

You can open this in your camp if you want an easy fight and easy butt load of exp

Ore you use Improved invisibility and unleash it on a boss and run like hell.

Is it possible to obtain this item AFTER reaching the Zhentarim Hideout with Rugan and Olly, having saved them from the Gnolls?

Gale can eat this while the chest it locked, probably bugged. When you unlock the chest it is replaced by a Malachite.
