Fortnite: All Sonic Easter Eggs & References

Green Hill Zone features as a POI in the map, and it's the famed first level in Sonic the Hedgehog, way back in 1991, featuring racing stripe grass patterns, loop-de-loops, and more!

Sometimes, when you talk to Sonic in Green Hill Zone, he'll say an iconic quote from Sonic Adventure (1998).

One of Sonic's quotes from the Sonic Underground (1999) cartoon is referenced when speaking with Sonic.

Speaking with Sonic will sometimes reveal this quote, which is a direct reference to his reveal in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)!

Dr. Eggman can be found as a boss fight in Green Hill Zone, and he has voicelines from Mike Pollock, who voices the character in the games!

Fighting Dr. Eggman will play the iconic E.G.G.M.A.N. theme song from Sonic Adventure 2 (2001), composed by Jun Senou and written/performed by Paul Shortino.

Around Green Hill Zone, you can find piranha-based Badniks created by Dr. Eggman. Don't worry, these aren't actually hostile, and they have no animals inside to rescue.

You can find and walk into Dash Panels that let you go fast and do loop-de-loops, but they also play the original Green Hill Zone theme from Sonic the Hedgehog (1991).

Around Green Hill Zone, you can find Springs, which you can run into to bounce up high. They even make their iconic springy sound effect!

You can collect Rings around Green Hill Zone, which provide you with Shield, Health, and Overshield. Getting hit also makes you drop the Rings, just like when Sonic takes damage!

The Chao are adorable fairy-like creatures, and they can be found in Green Hill Zone! They are only plushies, but they can be found sitting around the POI.

In the center of Reality's Reign, you can find the Master Emerald, held securely in a container that's unbreachable.

In the Battle Pass, you can get the Sketchog Emoticon, which is inspired by the sketches designed by Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)'s level designer, Hirokazu Yasuhara.

The Backup Ring Portal Back Bling in the Battle Pass shows the original 16-bit Green Hill Zone!

Tails Lander is a Glider from the Battle Pass, and it allows Tails to carry you to safety. The Glider is a reference because Tails flies you in the Sonic games, and you hold onto a Checkpoint Banner from his debut game, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992)!

The Miles Electric (PAD), which first appeared in Sonic Unleashed (2008), features in the Battle Pass as the Tails Pad.

Unlocking all Sonic the Hedgehog items in the Battle Pass will unlock Super Sonic, and you can use an emote to transform, but Sonic will hit his Sonic Adventure 2 pose from the box art!

Sonic's shoes from Sonic Adventure 2 (2001) feature in the Item Shop for 1,000 V-Bucks!

Doom's Eye is a Back Bling in the Item Shop for 300 V-Bucks, and it serves as the third eye to Black Doom, the father of Shadow.

Shadow's Pickaxe, the Doom Scythe, references the powers Shadow develops in Shadow Generations (2024), and can be purchased for 800 V-Bucks in the Item Shop.

The comedic duo of Orbot and Cubot (first featured in Sonic Colors in 2010) features as a Dr. Eggman Back Bling that can be purchased for 300 V-Bucks.

Dr. Eggman's Pickaxe is in the Item Shop for 800 V-Bucks and is from the Aquatic Ruin Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992)!

Entering "GOTTAGOFAST" into the lobby admin panel provides you with a Cheat Master Sonic Sprite, which is both a reference to his catchphrase and the Sonic X Theme for the 2003-2006 animated series.

Entering "IWANNAFLYHIGH" into the lobby admin panel provides you with a Cheat Master Tails Sprite, which is a lyric from Tails' theme song, "Believe in Myself" by Karen Blake and Kaz Silver.
