Solo Leveling Is Lining Up A New Upgrade For Beru

Solo Leveling is an action-focused anime, which is why it is filled with spectacular fights. In fact, it has been the major selling point for the series. When the second season of the anime was still airing, every episode trailer was getting hundreds of thousands of views and likes. As a matter of fact, it even shattered long-standing Crunchyroll records.

The second season of Solo Leveling ended on a high note as Jinwoo fought against the newly born Ant King. Moments after the latter's birth, he began targeting all the humans who had set foot on the island. The Ant King's superior physical abilities enabled him to fight and vanquish nearly all the S-rank Japanese hunters. The Korean hunters would have suffered the same fate if not for Jinwoo's timely intervention. His arrival ensured that Min Byung was the only casualty from the Korean team. After felling the Ant King, Jinwoo used his necromancy to awaken him as a shadow, and surprisingly, it worked. He named the shadow Beru, and shortly afterwards, the season ended. While some may be disappointed to not see Beru in action, there is no need to fret, as the upcoming seasons will put Beru in the spotlight.

Beru Will Evolve Into A Stronger Shadow

It has already been confirmed that the next installment of the Solo Leveling anime will be in the form of a movie instead of a regular season. However, that doesn't change the fact that Beru is going to be heavily involved. Since Beru is the shadow version of the original Ant King, he has nearly identical attacks and physical strength. This means that Jinwoo doesn't even have to fight most S-rank hunters on his own when he can send Beru to get the job done. One thing that separates Beru from his original self is that he can actually level up and grow stronger. This is not a concept that has been fully explored in the anime, but fans who have read the manhwa will know.

In order for a shadow to evolve, it must engage in combat and use its power to either attack or defend itself from the enemy. Whenever a shadow is successful in its goal, it gains experience points with which it can level up and improve its strength. Unlike Jinwoo, the shadows have ranks. Each shadow is allotted a rank that matches its level when it dies. So a shadow that started at the lowest grade can climb through the ranks slowly and secure greater strength and distinction among Jinwoo's shadow army. Now that the concept of leveling up shadows is clear, it's time to go back and put Beru under the microscope. As previously stated, Beru is, for now, Jinwoo's strongest shadow, so naturally he is going to be involved in most fights. After all, it wouldn't make sense for Jinwoo to send out a weaker soldier to fight unless he didn't want to harm his opponent.

As Beru continues to be more involved, he will unquestionably gain more points and level up quicker than the other shadows. This should allow him to grow even stronger and attain a new rank for himself. Now the question is, when can fans expect to see Beru fight in the anime? The answer is Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. The movie was announced at this year's Anime Expo 2026 by Crunchyroll. The news came as a sigh of relief for most or all Solo Leveling fans, as they have been waiting for months for an update. Now that they have received the confirmation, they can relax and put the kettle on.

Beru Will Fight In The New Solo Leveling Movie

Solo Leveling: Beyond the System will focus on Jinwoo as he tries to create a guild of his own. Ever since Jinwoo came into the limelight, guilds from all over Korea have been trying to recruit him. However, the hero has no intention of joining them. Instead, he wants to build his own guild, which consists of just a few of his closest aides. It is worth mentioning that Cha Hae-In tried to join Jinwoo's guild after she found out that he was looking for more new members. Jinwoo was initially reluctant to let her join but ultimately decides to put her through a test in which she fights first Igris and then Beru. While she fares better against Igris, Beru nearly kills her once again, showing off how superior he is to the rest.

Solo Leveling Beyond the System is also going to cover the Double Dungeon arc in which Jinwoo goes to the Cartenon Temple, the place where he obtained his powers. In the dungeon, Jinwoo will meet the architect known as Kandiaru, the one responsible for creating the System that the protagonist is a part of. Naturally, the architect knows a lot about the System, and he can answer a lot of Jinwoo's questions. However, he is just going to give away the answers for free. Instead, he will put Jinwoo through several tests, and the hero must clear them to get what he wants. He will have to fight the stone statues, including the god statue that nearly killed him in the first encounter. However, things are going to be a lot different the second time, as Jinwoo is far stronger than before.

After demolishing the statues, the hero will have to fight the architect himself, and to make matters more interesting, he sets up a 10-minute timer. Kandiaru also tells Jinwoo that failure to beat him within the limit would end the hero's life. Thankfully, Jinwoo was able to complete the objective with a few minutes remaining. However, it was quite clear that the architect's power was no joke, for he had Jinwoo on the ropes for the majority of the fight. Jinwoo was fortunate that he had such amazing powers and a lot of experience fighting various enemies. In fact, in most fights, Jinwoo often finds himself on the back foot and then slowly grows into it before finally demolishing his opponent.

Once the architect is dealt with, Jinwoo will finally get answers to some of his biggest questions and obtain new information. The movie could obviously delve beyond the affairs of the Double Dungeon arc, but it feels much better if they end it on a cliffhanger and then follow it with an announcement of Solo Leveling Season 3. Whether or not this will materialize remains to be seen.
