Relationships are a big part of your Parafolk’s social life in Paralives. You can start as strangers, become acquaintances, then friends, and even turn it into romance that may lead to marriage and starting a family.
Each relationship type has levels, just like friendship, and building them up helps create stronger bonds and makes everyday life feel less repetitive for your Parafolk. This guide will show how to quickly increase friendship levels in Paralives.
How to Increase Friendship Level in Paralives
Becoming friends with townies is one of the first and easiest bonds you can build. After using a few good Together Cards (meaning happy and joyful interactions) during an interaction, the storyteller may trigger a special card that lets you add that person as a sidekick.
Once you’re friends with an outside Parafolk, you can start building the relationship further. To be more precise, friendship levels in Paralives increase by talking to the target Para regularly and consistently choosing the Friend +1 card from the storyteller.
For those who don’t know, this card only appears when the Together Bar is fully filled during a conversation. Here are some tips to make the friendship upgrade card show up more often:
- Choose only positive Together Cards during chats. Avoid negative or disruptive options like saying the conversation is boring, questioning why they don’t go to the gym, or embarrassing actions such as mumbling incomprehensibly or sharing the need to use the bathroom. It’s also best to avoid romantic cards too early or those with low success chances.
- Keep all needs fulfilled and maintain a good mood before talking to friends or inviting them over. Hunger, sleep, bathroom, and hygiene issues can negatively affect interactions since card outcomes depend on current conditions.
- Do activities together like watching television, playing hopscotch, eating meals, or doing yoga. While chatting, click on any eligible activity, and both Parafolk will join in. From our gameplay experience, inviting a friend over to watch TV tends to trigger more friendship upgrade cards compared to regular conversation.
- Since Parafolk only have 24 in-game hours to manage their needs, household cleanliness, and work, building higher-level friendships can become difficult. We recommend taking on only a single job while focusing on relationships, since each shift can take five or more in-game hours and heavily disrupt your social life.
If you keep getting bad Together Cards, it’s better to stop the conversation and check the social card of the Parafolk you’re trying to become best friends with. Townies with very different qualities are usually more challenging to bond with in Paralives. To compare compatibility, follow these steps:
- Click the Social icon (the fourth option on the sidebar).
- Select the friend under the Relationships tab.
- Once their social card opens, head into the Info section.
- Compare their traits with your created Para, including character vibes, personality stats (Mind, Physique, Creativity, and Charisma), Social Perks, and Talents. Your character’s qualities can be checked from their profile icon.
If your Parafolk’s talent is fitness and their friend works as a fitness coach, they are more likely to get positive Together Cards and form a friendship faster. For those who want to check their friendship status, simply go back to the Relationships tab and look under the townie’s label.
