After completing character creation and a short tutorial on the train in Paralives, players will be confronted with an important choice for their playthrough: which Storyteller to choose? Storytellers in Paralives can be somewhat seen as difficulty modifiers, making the simulation game harder or easier.
How to Level Up & Improve Skills in Paralives
Improving your Parafolks' skills in Paralives helps them achieve promotions and live a more fulfilling life. Here's how to level up every skill.
What Are Storytellers In Paralives?
There are three storytellers to choose from in Paralives: Ricardo Castello III, Maxence, and lastly Stella, who happens to be a dog. These Storytellers have their own preset settings, determining how likely things like pregnancy are, the rate of aging, and a household's starting money. They also provide the player with a choice of Story Cards each night, granting various buffs.
You can customize Storytellers to change the passage of time, the likelihood of pregnancy, and other settings.
More importantly, however, Storytellers dictate the challenges Paras face in their day-to-day lives. For example, a more challenging Storyteller will result in more kitchen fires, meaning characters could die, or at least have to spend hundreds or thousands replacing burnt appliances.

Can You Change Storyteller In Paralives?
Thankfully, it is possible to switch Storyteller at any moment during a playthrough, meaning players can make the game easier or harder after trying things out for themselves.
Simply bring up the pause menu by hitting ESC and click the Storyteller button to open up the menu. Feel free to do this as many times as you want during a playthrough, and remember to have a look at the custom settings.
How to View Town Map in Paralives
The town of Paralives is pretty expansive and there's lots to see and do. Here's how to view the town map so you know where everything is in the game.
Which Storyteller Should You Choose In Paralives?
There's obviously no correct answer as to which Storyteller you should pick in Paralives, and as stated previously, they can be changed at any time, so don't worry too much about making the choice.
However, the safe option would be Maxence for a balanced experience with some challenges that don't get too out of hand, especially while the game is in Early Access. On the other hand, if you're someone who loves seeing simulation characters go through life's ups and downs, such as being fired and having to find a new job, Ricardo would be a better option.
In my experience, Ricardo felt a tad unbalanced as I suffered two fires on the same day, only days after dealing with another, all of this being on top of countless broken fridges and toilets.
For players who don't want to deal with any of these challenges and want their Paras to sail through life with no problems, Stella is there for a cozy playthrough.
