With the latest edition of the leading basketball franchise here, players will be eager to jump onto the court and learn how to alley-oop in NBA 2K27, including how to throw the lob to a teammate, how to finish as the dunker, and how to perform self-alley-oops. This is one of the most satisfying plays to pull off in the sport, and aside from showing off, alley-oops are arguably the best options in 2 vs 1 breaks.
How To Alley Oop In NBA 2K27
To throw the lob for an alley-oop, you'll ideally want to control a great passer, such as a Point Guard. You'll also need an open teammate to run toward the basket and finish the move.
- Double tap [Y]
If you're controlling the entire team, you will then need to receive and dunk the ball by pressing [X] at the right time when the indicator appears.
This last bit won't be necessary if you're playing MyCareer and only have control of the passer.
How To Call For An Alley Oop
Without the ball and as a potential dunker, players can run toward the basket when open and use the following controls to call for an alley-oop.
- Double tap [Y]
You will then need to press the button that appears above the player's head.
On easier difficulties, there is no button to press to finish an alley-oop. Meanwhile, for online matches, the button may be different each time to keep players on their toes.
How To Self Alley Oop In NBA 2K27
Self alley-oops are best performed in 1-on-1 scenarios where the ball-handler has a height and physicality advantage, but ideally, they should be a good passer and, more importantly, athletic enough to pull off a dunk. They are also a great way to showboat on wide-open fast breaks, either in NBA games in front of the fans or at park games with friends and rivals.
Practice self alley-oops, other solo skills, and shooting in the Freeplay option under the Learn 2K tab.
Thankfully, the controls for self alley-oops are almost the same as they were in NBA 2K26, but any players returning from more distant editions of the franchise will have to relearn.
- Press [X] + [Y] at the same time while sprinting toward the basket.
This should lob the ball at the backboard, at which time a large indicator for [Y] will pop up.
- Press [Y] at the right time for the perfect alley-oop dunk.
Mistiming this or pressing another button in haste will cause the alley-oop to fail, and defenders will likely have time to reclaim the loose ball.
