Grimorium Obscurum Location and Forbidden Archives Walkthrough in Mortal Shell 2

As you progress through the Ruins of Mammon in Mortal Shell 2, you will eventually need to cleanse three more Corrupt Gates. Next to the southern Corrupt Gate is the Gate of Infinity Beacon, which contains a dungeon known as the Forbidden Archives.

While exploring this area, you will need to track down a missing book called Grimorium Obscurum to open the path forward. If you are struggling to find it among the many shelves, this walkthrough has the exact location.

Forbidden Archives Walkthrough in Mortal Shell 2

Enter the Gate of Infinity Beacon, and you will immediately find a chest containing 2,000 Gold. Grab the money, as you can use it toward any weapon or sidearm upgrades, and head on down the lift.

At the bottom, deal with the two long-mouth enemies and then look for the book sitting on the shelf. Interacting with it reveals a hidden path leading into the Forbidden Archives.

Inside, you will encounter several flying books that periodically fly toward you and deal a small amount of damage. They are not particularly dangerous on their own, but there are plenty of other enemies throughout the Archives, so try not to let these projectiles chip away at your health while you are dealing with larger threats.

As you approach the middle of the Archives, you will find a book holder with an empty slot. This is where you eventually need to place Grimorium Obscurum, but the book is not immediately visible.

Deal with the enemies around the area and look between the bookshelves for a jump pad. Use it to reach the tops of the shelves. Grab the two Ventrium nearby before heading toward the chandelier on your left to collect the Synaptic Vessel. You can also find another Ventrium next to the second jump pad ahead. From there, jump down and pass through the opening in the wall to collect a Glimpse.

Return to the jump pad and use it to get close to the chandelier positioned near the empty book holder. Look toward the shelves, and you will find Grimorium Obscurum on top of the second shelf from the left.

Drop down and return to the empty book holder. Place Grimorium Obscurum inside, and the path ahead will open, allowing you to reach the Ova that needs to be cleansed.

However, as you approach the Ova, a Gloombound Wraith will appear behind you and initiate a boss fight. During the first phase, the boss is relatively straightforward, with slow attacks that can be avoided fairly easily. You will still need to watch out for the flying books while fighting it, as they can become an unnecessary distraction.

Once the boss reaches roughly half health, it will begin glowing red and become surrounded by book pages. At this point, look around the arena for the red glowing books and destroy them. Once you have destroyed the books, the boss will return to its normal state, and you can finish the fight.

Defeating the Gloombound Wraith rewards you with two Glimpses and the Curseblood Stone (Tarstone). You can then cleanse the corruption and collect the Ova, completing the Forbidden Archives dungeon.
