Charlstie Veith shared thisMy sincere thanks to Robert Wheeler and the At The Moment Media (ATM) team for creating a space where real stories can be told and heard. It is rare to find a platform that honors the people behind this industry, and I am grateful to have been included. I am forever thankful for the support I have felt from the adtech and media world as I learn to live without Rick after his suicide in 2021. The compassion this community has shown me has been a lifeline, and I carry that with me every single day. I also want to acknowledge the powerful work of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, an organization that holds a very personal place in my heart. Charlstie Veith liked thisCharlstie Veith liked thisLast week was a brilliant reminder of how fast our industry is moving – and how much energy there is in London right now. Tuesday – Data Labels lunch On Tuesday, James Rosewell hosted a Data Labels lunch, digging into how labels can bring offline-style contracts and controls into online data and content, from email addresses through to copyright-protected articles. The discussion around using standardised labels to restrict content theft, improve data protection, increase transparency and support regulatory remedies was seriously energising. Wednesday – Prebid.org Ascent London Wednesday was all about Prebid Accent London: packed room, smart questions, and a real sense that the community is leaning into what comes next for open-source infrastructure. AI cropped up in almost every conversation, from optimisation and forecasting through to what it means for publishers’ control in a rapidly changing ecosystem. Special thanks to Michael Racic, Katie Morgart, Garrett McGrath, Christian Janelli, and all the helpers for making this the best Prebid UK event so far. The venue was stunning and the food was great. Thursday – AAO(AdCP) meet up at the Permutive office On Thursday, the AAO (AdCP) event at Permutive brought together another strong crowd, again with AI threaded through nearly every sentence as people compared notes on how they saw agents working within their business futures. There was a clear appetite for practical collaboration rather than theory, which made the conversations feel both grounded and optimistic. Benjamin Masse and Anne Coghlan did a great job of painting the picture of the future. Looking ahead Really excited to see what the future holds for AdCP after this week – the momentum feels very real. And a special shout-out to Oliver Burns, who did an epic job painting the future of Prebid Server and where this stack can take us next. For those who know me, some of the best chats were had at dinners and in the pub. Some of the folks that spring to mind. Zack Dugow, Constantine Mirin, Barrie Jarman - Best SimilarWeb Alternative, Arjun Arora, Debra Fleenor, Jay Punjabi, Matthew Letner, Mohsin P., Lucas Schaerf, Andrew Mole and Patrick McCann. Last shout-out is to Maisie Whaley, my daughter, who managed to save the day and drive a chunk of the Prebid merch up on the day due to postage delays.

In this new piece for Streaming Media Magazine, OpenAP CEO David Levy lays out why 2026 will mark a turning point in how the industry defines and activates audiences. As he explains, much of today’s targeting still relies on probabilistic signals like IP addresses, leaving advertisers unable to confidently connect exposure to outcomes or prove campaign performance. This article is a must-read for anyone navigating the streaming ecosystem, outlining why deterministic identity will be the foundation for scalable, measurable, and accountable advertising...and what brands, agencies, and publishers should be demanding from their partners now. https://lnkd.in/g3qPZrmC

Is 11% better value enough? It should be. Some great research from Lumen Research, Newsworks and effectiveness guru Peter Field. Despite premium media (news brands in particular) outperforming low attention - the share of revenue going to low attention vs high has flipped. Having worked in news for much of my early career the challenge was always proving that despite the premium cost - the outcome would be worth it. So, great to see that even when cost is factored in, digital news brands deliver 11% better value for advertisers. In recent research conducted with Dominic Finney of Ascentinel on premium video from the buy-side perspective (wave two coming soon) it will require more than just ROI to reverse this trend. Being easy to buy and easy to measure will be key factors to ensure premium media stays on the plan. https://lnkd.in/evJHEpBR

The conventional wisdom in the streaming TV industry - especially among the journalists covering it - is that it is nearly impossible to quantify who is watching shows and why. I recently spoke with Ron Cohen, SVP of Practice Leadership at Claritas LLC and Mike Bloxham, EVP of Global Media and Entertainment at Magid about their new SubScape Streaming Segments partnership and I learned that in this case, conventional wisdom is very, very wrong. https://lnkd.in/guARTrTD

If anyone is looking for an independent report and analysis on what's ahead in 2026 for the hottest business sectors, look no further than the latest annual report from Activate Consulting. This year's report highlights key trends across the industry, including: Massive Growth in Tech and Media: The global internet, media, and B2B technology sectors are forecast to see $1.3T in incremental revenue over the next four years, with B2B tech and software alone growing by $907B to become a $3.9T market. The 32-Hour Day and the "Attention" War: Multitasking has created a 32-hour, 17-minute day, where consumers spend over 13 hours on media, blurring industry lines. Social is now 71% video, retail media is a $100B+ business, and gaming is a social hub, forcing companies to expand into new territories to capture fractured attention. AI Is Rewriting the Rules: With adoption now at over 60% of US adults, Generative AI (GenAI) is the single biggest driver of change, monetization, and investment. It is fundamentally altering online search, with 72 million U.S. adults expected to use a GenAI platform as their first stop by 2029. The "Super User" Demands a New Strategy: A highly engaged 28% of the population disproportionately drives media consumption, tech adoption, and 59% of e-commerce spend. As high-value brand advocates who are 87% comfortable sharing data and willing to pay for premium experiences, they require a dedicated strategy. The Post-Smartphone Future: Major tech companies are investing in spatial computing as the next platform shift. The goal is to merge VR/MR's spatial power into AI glasses, unlocking new behaviors and monetization models on par with the smartphone's arrival. Gaming Becomes Universal: By 2029, virtually all online adults will be gamers, driving the global gamer population to 3.7B. This massive, universal audience will fuel a $214B global market, with mobile remaining the largest and fastest-growing segment. New Digital Markets Are Surging: The legalization of sports betting is creating a massive new market, with the total amount wagered in the U.S. projected to reach $215B annually by 2029 as it becomes legal in an expected 48 states.
