What is actually changing in martech right now, and what is still more hype than reality? In the latest AI Insiders conversation from AI Marketers Guild, David Berkowitz spoke with Scott Brinker, analyst and advisor at chiefmartec, about the biggest shifts shaping marketing technology and AI adoption. A few standout takeaways: - CMS and e-commerce are seeing major acceleration - Content marketing has been one of the hardest-hit categories - Semantic layers and context engineering are becoming critical as organizations try to make their data usable for AI - Many AI features launched by martech vendors still are not getting meaningful adoption - AI governance remains a major gap, with only 8% of organizations saying they feel confident in their approach - Real adoption often happens at the team level, not because a CEO declared it Scott also shared thoughtful perspectives on buyer-controlled AI agents, agentic commerce, wrappers versus harnesses, and why marketers now need to think about both human and bot audiences. For anyone leading marketing, martech, operations, or AI experimentation inside an organization, this is a conversation worth watching. We’ve been wanting to do this for a while: AI is moving fast, and not everyone has resources to show them how it actually works. That’s why we’re launching The Power-Up with wordPower. Every month, we’re opening our doors for a free 30-minute live session. One skill, one practical takeaway you can use the same day. No price tag, no pitch. Just us, you, and whatever we’re nerding out on that month. First up: Building Presentations with AI 📅 Wednesday, April 8th 🕘 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm UK Sign up at https://lnkd.in/gfq39pSh Special thanks to our launch sponsor OhHello.ai, who share our beliefs in the value of person-to-person experiences and the ability of AI to bring people together. And if you know someone who’s been curious about AI but doesn’t know where to start, this is for them too!

What happens when AI stops acting like a tool and starts acting like a companion? In the most recent AI Insiders conversation from AI Marketers Guild, AIMG Founder and Marketecture Chief Community Officer David Berkowitz sat down with Robin Gelfenbien, Ambassador of Fun, to explore AI companions through a very real lens: firsthand experience. Robin and David shared what happened when they tested AI dating and companion experiences in Manhattan, including video dates with AI personalities and interactions designed to simulate chemistry, curiosity, and connection. Their takeaway: the technology still feels thin. Instead of meaningful dialogue, the bots often fixated on surface-level visual details. Instead of building rapport, they repeated themselves. Instead of showing emotional depth, they often felt performative and disconnected. A few standout points from the conversation: - Robin Gelfenbien described how the AI often failed to respond naturally to humor, storytelling, or attempts at real connection - David Berkowitz shared how some AI personalities appeared to recognize boredom without knowing how to recover from it - Tameka pointed to memory and context as essential ingredients for any AI companion to feel remotely meaningful - Earle raised an important point about personality differences and how different people may relate to AI companions in very different ways One of the most interesting threads was whether these products are better suited as practice tools, therapeutic support, or journaling-style systems rather than replacements for human relationships. For marketers, founders, and builders, this goes beyond dating. It raises a larger question: when AI enters emotionally sensitive spaces, what does good product design actually look like? Open Ecosystems, AI Workflows, and Where Agencies Actually Win Ad tech is getting messier, AI is speeding everything up, and the old playbooks are starting to crack. In this week's episode of The Advertising Forum, sponsored by AI Digital , Tom Burke (CRO of AI Digital) and Kevin Zoss (Partner and Head of Media at LAZY BOY AGENCY) dig into what “open” really means today and why it’s becoming a competitive edge. They get into the reality of fragmented media, how AI is reshaping workflows across buying and creative, and why the best agencies are leaning into flexibility without losing structure.

55 marketing and media professionals. One uncomfortable finding: efficiency is up, but bottom-line impact is largely flat. I sat down with David Berkowitz at AI Marketers Guild (AIMG) to unpack what our Q1 2026 AI Adoption Survey reveals. A few things that stood out: - Content creation is the clear bright spot, but media planning and buying is barely moving. Big data analysis and workflow automation are easy wins for AI, but AI needs clean, connected data ... and we all know that media data is fragmented, hard to get and often contractually siloed. - Skills and team readiness rank as the top adoption barrier, but the real issue is the lack of clarity around the goals that will actually move the needle. Organizations stuck in experimentation almost always have leadership that said "go use AI" without defining what success looks like in the next 90 to 180 days. That's throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks, and it's the most common reason organizations are doing a lot with AI, but AI isn't doing a lot for these organizations. - The KPI gap is bigger than most want to admit. A meaningful share of organizations report moving fast with AI but have no real way to track impact. That's a problem that will come due sooner than people expect. Wrapping it up, AI is the gift of time, but not a guarantee of growth. The organizations that figure out how to reinvest their AI dividends into differentiation and competitive advantage will pull ahead in ways that make it hard for others to catch up. Read the full interview via Marketecture Media's AI Brief below where you'll also be able to access our live survey analysis tool to explore AI adoption insights for yourself. https://lnkd.in/gywwdSt2.
