Youth
Rosario Isabel Dawson was born on May 9, 1979, to parents Isabel Celeste and Patrick C. Harris, both of whom were teenagers at the time. Although Harris is Dawson's biological father, Dawson was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Greg Dawson, whom Celeste married when Dawson was a year old. Although Dawson was born in New York City and her family lived there for several years, they eventually moved to Texas.
Education
Rosario Dawson attended and graduated from Garland High School in Garland, Texas. After graduation, she returned to New York City to study at Hunter College. She also went on to study classical acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute.
Career
Dawson got her start in acting when she was still young, with her first on-screen appearance being a brief role on Sesame Street in 1993. From there, Dawson appeared in several movies, including Kids in 1995, Side Streets in 1998, and Light It Up in 1999, among many others. Her major breakout role was as Mimi Marquez in the theatrical release of the Broadway play Rent in 2005.
In the 20 years since, Dawson's career has grown exponentially, with appearances in some of the biggest franchises in the world, from playing Claire Temple in Marvel's Daredevil and Jessica Jones to her more recent role as Jedi Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka.
