I'm a huge Rachel Sennott fan, but her new HBO show I Love LA is light on laughs, full of unlikable characters, and derivative of other TV comedies.

I Love L.A. (2025) is a sharp, modern comedy that captures the chaotic life of young, internet-obsessed twenty-somethings in Los Angeles. The show follows Maia (Rachel Sennott), a struggling talent manager who moves to L.A. from New York and works under a demanding boss while trying to prove herself. Her world is turned upside down when her old friend Tallulah (Odessa A’Zion), now an influencer, returns. Their complicated friendship is at the heart of the show — Maia sees Tallulah as both her ticket to success and a constant source of tension. Charlie (Jordan Firstman) is a flamboyant celebrity stylist desperate for connections, while Alani (True Whitaker) is a rich, carefree “nepo baby” trying to figure out her identity. Maia’s steady but unexciting boyfriend Dylan (Josh Hutcherson) provides a grounding contrast to her friend group. The series humorously explores ambition, digital fame, and quarter-life anxiety. While in the middle of the film it slows down to emphasize growth through everyday moments rather than dramatic events. In the end " I Love LA" ties it themes with sincerity , emotionally and genuine satisfying.

A tight-knit friend group gathers after years apart, navigating the complexities of ambition, relationships, and how time has changed not sure it people know this but the original concept for always Sunny in Philadelphia was going to be Glenn, Rob and Charlie basically playing themselves as struggling actors in LA but they decided to try something ditanf made it about a dice bar in Rob's home of Philly. It's getting to the point where Rachel just plays the same character in every movie/show .
