Best Long Sword Skills in MHWilds - In Monster Hunter Wilds, the satisfying gameplay loop of hunting monsters to get loot to craft stronger gear to hunt stronger monsters makes a grand return. And with this grand return also comes the return of a variety of skills that comes with the equipment you will be forging and using in your hunts.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are a total of 148 Skills that have unique effects and each one of them is helpful in a particular aspect when you are playing the game. A lot of the skills that were in the previous games make a return with a few new added skills.

The biggest change to skills in Monster Hunter Wilds is that some of the Equipment skills that were on the armor pieces in the previous games have been moved to the weapons. This particular change makes it so that you will not be locked into specific monster trees when using a particular weapon.

The Long Sword is a weapon that can deliver a series of quick attacks and it functions around filling the Spirit Gauge and raising your spirit level to the max level, turning it red. At this Spirit Gauge Level the Long Sword becomes more powerful and can deal devastating damage to the monster and as such, the skills for the Long Sword will center around maximizing the value of the Red Spirit Gauge Level.

Best Long Sword Skills in MHWilds - Tier I

The best skills to have in your loadout when using the Long Sword are Focus, Power Prolonger, Burst, Weakness Exploit and Flayer. Focus and Power Prolonger skills are equipment skills that can be found on the weapons while Burst, Weakness Exploit and Flayer skills are equipment skills gained from armor sets.

Focus

Focus - The main reason we are going for the Focus skill is because this skill will boost the core mechanic of the Long Sword as it will increase the fill rate of the Spirit Gauge when you land your attacks. The will allow you to use the spirit slashes faster and raise your Spirit Gauge level faster during your hunts. The Focus skill will add even more value if you find yourself using the added move to the Long Sword, the Spirit Charge often as the skill will also reduce the charge time of your charge attack allowing them to go off faster.

Power Prolonger

On the other hand, the Burst skill can be reliably put together using the Guardian Ebony Armor set. So even though all these three skills Burst, Weakness Exploit and Flayer work really well when using the Long Sword, it can be a challenge to have all of them up at the same time even when you are using the charms from the talisman slot and the respective decorations.

But the ability to mix and match different combinations of armor pieces will allow you to emphasize on whichever one of these skills you prefer using all the different slots and options available to you.

Tier II Skills

Quick Sheathe is a skill on the armor pieces that will complement the Critical Draw or Punishing Draw skills. This skill will shorten the amount of time it takes for the Long Sword user to complete the special sheathe action and be ready for the Iai Slashes making the timing to land these attacks easier.

Adrenaline Rush

Adrenaline Rush skill will also come from the armor pieces and this skill will help the Long Sword user because it will activate with the counters from the Foresight Slash and the Iai Slashes giving you a temporary attack boost whenever it activates.

The main reason why these armor skills are in 2nd best tier for the Long Sword is because they are situational and will affect only specific portions of the Long Sword’s moveset rather than amplify the Long Sword as a whole.

Long Sword Skills - Tier III

Critical Eye & Critical Boost

Other Optional skills that are decent to have when you are using a Long Sword includes the Critical Eye and Critical Boost skills. As these skills will increase the percentage and damage of your critical hits, they work well in tandem with the Weakness Exploit skill, increasing your damage even further.

Protective Polish

Another skill that is good to have on a decoration slot is the Protective Polish skill. This skill will prevent the reduction of your sharpness level after using the whetstone for a set amount of time depending on the level. If you have extra decoration slots that are open, you can use the sharp jewels for this skill.

Handicraft & Razor Sharp
