After years without a new Dark Souls game, fans finally have another official release to look forward to. Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning is officially set to arrive on September 29, marking a notable return for one of FromSoftware's most iconic and well-loved franchises.

The Dark Souls trilogy wrapped up with Dark Souls III in 2016, and while Dark Souls: Remastered gave the original game a modern makeover in 2018, the franchise has been on FromSoftware's bench since then as attention turned to projects like Sekiro and Elden Ring.

That hasn't stopped Dark Souls from remaining one of FromSoftware's most recognizable and beloved series, though, and the title is still influencing games in the genre to this day. Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning offers another original story set in its grim fantasy world.
