PlayStation has revealed a new console bundle to promote Marvel's Wolverine, as well as several accessories that will be available in the coming weeks. Marvel's Wolverine is the next PlayStation 5 exclusive from developer Insomniac Games. After the studio released multiple games featuring Spider-Man, Insomniac is giving Wolverine a similar treatment. The games will exist within the same Marvel Universe, but the tone of Wolverine's new game is significantly more violent.
After years out of the spotlight, the X-Men are starting to get a big push again from Marvel. The mutant heroes are the focus of the X-Men '97 animated series, and the characters are starting to pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Insomniac's upcoming game puts the spotlight on Logan, but Marvel's Wolverine will feature several other mutants. Jean Grey has a role to play in the game, and her appearance could set up a potential X-Men game.

Marvel's Wolverine launches on September 15, and PlayStation will release a dedicated console bundle that same day. Priced at $649.99, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition — Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle features a yellow and black console design, claw marks, and an image of the Marvel hero. The system will also be accompanied by a digital code for Marvel's Wolverine alongside a DualSense controller, with a similar color scheme and claw mark design. The controller will also be sold individually, and both the DualSense and console bundle will be offered at retailers, and through PlayStation Direct. Existing PS5 owners will have the option of buying Console Covers in either Yellow and Black or in Adamantium Silver through PlayStation Direct. An Adamantium Silver DualSense will also be a PlayStation Direct exclusive.

PlayStation won't offer physical games starting in 2028, but PS5 owners with the disc-based system will be happy to know that the Console Covers based on Marvel's Wolverine will have an option for those with the disc drive. The claw marks on the console covers reveal the interior of the system, echoing some comic book covers which have had similar gimmicks.
Reception to the console variants and accessories has been largely positive on social media. There seems to be a lot of anticipation, which makes sense given just how popular Insomniac's Spider-Man games have been. Unfortunately for PC players, Marvel's Wolverine seems to be a true PS5 exclusive. After experimenting with PC ports over the last few years, PlayStation seems to be focused on keeping its games on its own platforms. That will certainly result in fewer players having the chance to play these games, but Sony clearly hopes these exclusives will result in stronger appeal for its consoles.
It's impossible to say whether Marvel's Wolverine will be a system seller for Sony, but the new console variants should offer a tempting option for gamers that don't own a PS5 just yet. This is easily the biggest exclusive release of 2026 for the system, though the year will have some other big games on the way. Most notably, Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to be released on November 19.
