Wizards of the Coast has already given fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the beloved card game’s newest Marvel collaboration. Magic: The Gathering’s Marvel Super Heroes expansion is set to feature a plethora of the most popular superheroes from throughout the comic book juggernaut’s history, including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and more. Magic has also revealed the biggest chase card in the set, featuring three different versions of The Mind Stone for fans to acquire. Now, Magic’s new Marvel Super Heroes expansion will set a new record for the card game.

Magic: The Gathering’s Marvel Super Heroes expansion is breaking the long-running game’s record for the most unique cards in a new set. The crossover will introduce more than 600 mechanically unique cards to the game, surpassing the achievement previously set by the Lord of the Rings crossover. The new cards will be split between the main set, four pre-constructed Commander Decks, and a variety of side products, including Jumpstart packs, Welcome Decks, and Scene Boxes. The Marvel Super Heroes set will officially release on June 26, with prereleases for the set beginning on June 19.

Beyond the assortment of mechanically unique cards included in the Marvel crossover, Wizards of the Coast has teased plenty of special versions of new cards. Magic will be bringing back comic book-styled showcase treatments, first introduced in 2025’s Spider-Man crossover, already showing off stunning versions of cards such as World War Hulk and The Coming of Galactus. The superhero-themed set will also add special cards with artwork inspired by the covers of different Marvel comics, including characters like Doctor Doom, Namor the Sub-Mariner, and Captain America.

The plethora of Marvel cards are coming with a variety of changes and new mechanics as well. Wizards of the Coast has teased multiple new keywords and abilities being added to the game in the Marvel Super Heroes set, allowing players to buff their heroes with Power-Up or use Teamwork to provide more powerful effects. Wizards of the Coast has confirmed at least one new card subtype, Plans, coming with the Marvel crossover, debuting multiple new Plan Enchantment cards. The Marvel set will also bring back several mechanics and keywords used in 2025’s Spider-Man crossover, adding more cards to support Hero decks and bringing back the Connive mechanic for Villains.
