Magic: The Gathering's upcoming crossover with The Hobbit is set to include some huge reprints, including the elusive One Ring from the original set. The reprints feature a mix of both cards from Magic's original Lord of the Rings set and Middle Earth-themed reprints of multiple staple cards.
Wizards of the Coast's return to Middle Earth stands as one of the most highly-anticipated expansions of 2026. The follow-up to the wildly successful Lord of the Rings crossover will feature some big changes beyond its theming on the prequel story, with The Hobbit confirmed to be legal for Magic's Standard format. Fans also got an early teaser about some of the new cards coming with the set during MagicCon, including Bilbo, Smaug, and Thorin, among many others. Now, Wizards of the Coast is showing off some incredible reprint cards players will be able to pick up.

Magic: The Gathering's first big showcase of The Hobbit includes a mix of flavorful reprints and new alternate art cards. Wizards of the Coast confirmed the return of the most iconic card from the original Lord of the Rings expansion as The Hobbit's biggest highlight, debuting a brand-new version of The One Ring. A pair of classic staple cards will be getting reprints in The Hobbit, with Wood Elves available in the main set and as a promo while Arcane Signet will be exclusive to Collector's Boosters. Wizards of the Coast also shared new artwork for two classic cards from the Lord of the Rings set, bringing back both Tom Bombadil and Sauron, the Dark Lord.
The new version of The One Ring is expected to follow its predecessor as one of The Hobbit's most sought-after cards. The original One Ring became an instant hit with fans, both for its in-universe flavor and for its power in non-rotating formats, such as Commander and Modern. The One Ring received an exclusive one-of-a-kind version with Elvish text in the Lord of the Rings crossover, with Post Malone purchasing the card in 2023 for more than $2 million. Regular versions of the card have also retained a high price tag on the secondary market, despite being banned in Modern, with the card's price still holding at nearly $100.
The launch of Magic's The Hobbit set in August will bring plenty more cards and products to excite fans beyond its big reprints. Magic: The Gathering will release a new co-op game mode in 2027, similar to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover's Turtle Team-Up boxes, based on the climactic Battle of the Five Armies. Wizards of the Coast will debut a pair of scene boxes alongside the set, including special full-art cards of Bilbo's dinner with Gandalf and the Dwarves, and Bilbo discovering Smaug's hoard.

The Hobbit is far from the only major crossover hitting Magic: The Gathering throughout the rest of 2026, with two other collaborations on the way. The TCG will debut a crossover with Marvel Super Heroes in June, featuring new cards of the comic book juggernaut's most iconic characters, while a Star Trek set is scheduled to release in November. Magic: The Gathering will also launch one more in-universe expansion in October, launching Reality Fracture with brand-new color-shifted versions of classic cards. 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for Magic: The Gathering, boasting some of the game's most exciting sets ever.
