An image of the box for LEGO Pokemon's new and upcoming Rayquaza set, complete with a Zinnia minifigure, appeared online. LEGO is officially releasing a new wave of Pokemon sets this summer, specifically, on August 1, 2026. While the majority of these sets are Smart Play builds, which have yet to win many fans over, the newly leaked Rayquaza set is a regular build with no Smart Bricks attached. LEGO Pokemon sets have been a smashing success so far in terms of sales, and this new release is likely to disappear from store shelves fast.
LEGO Pokemon sets released on Pokemon Day were not without controversy, as the big $650 LEGO Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise set came with a free gift that sold out incredibly fast. This was a set dedicated to the Gym Badges from Kanto, and it ended up on third-party websites quickly, with scalpers trying to sell it for astronomical amounts before it even launched. Other sets also sold out before release. Yet, the overall reception was not as good, and the new Rayquaza set may shake things up.
LEGO Pokemon's Rayquaza Set With Minifigure Leaks Online

The image was shared by Twitter/X account Funko POP News!, and it shows the box for the new LEGO Rayquaza set. LEGO Pokemon's Rayquaza set may be disappointing, as early leaks stated it was going to be a big build, but the image and recent reports both state that the set includes 1,083 pieces. Not only that, but it is also missing an alternate Mega Rayquaza build, and instead features a Zinnia minifigure holding a printed Mega Stone.

The build features Rayquaza in a semi-erect pose at the top of Sky Pillar, with clouds on the sides and in front of Rayquaza's body. This makes Sky Pillar work as a stand of sorts for Rayquaza, with the clouds partly covering the otherwise visible transparent rod to hold the build together. Zinnia features her in-game clothes and hairstyle, and while Rayquaza's Mega Evolution is not included, the set is arguably the best-looking so far for Pokemon by a huge margin.
LEGO Pokemon's Summer 2026 Smart Play sets include some very popular critters, like Kanto starters in their base forms, Gengar and Cubone, another Charizard (and Jolteon) set, Garchomp with Umbreon, Mew, Bidoof, and more. However, Smart Play sets are more expensive, and the blocky look of the latest reveals made some fans appreciate the old Mega Blox releases. Rayquaza may change that, as it's one of the most popular Pokemon ever, it comes with a minifigure, and it's a classic LEGO build.

This build pays homage to some of the best-reviewed Pokemon games ever, as Sky Pillar and Delta Episode are what cemented Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's shiny Rayquaza and Mega Rayquaza's presence in the series for years to come.
