Dungeons & Dragons players familiar with Faerun will know just how many famous characters have traveled these lands. Baldur's Gate 3 players will recognize Astarion, Shadowheart, and Karlach. Storied adventurers will recognize Faerun as the place Drizzt Do’Urden and his family have traveled to for some grand adventures.

From moon musicians to assassins of the Dead Three.

Because Faerun is known for epic adventurers going on grand adventures, any adventure set here will ensure you'll be doing adventures on a scale as grand as those characters at your own table. Of course, heroes in Faerun need even more options to choose from, and that's where these new subclasses come in.

Bard – College Of The Moon

If you're having druid flashbacks, that's because you're probably familiar with the Circle of the Moon subclass for druids that has similar origins.

This bard college has roots in the same druidic practice from the Moonshae Isles and taps into that primal power and fey magic to perform their spells.

You'll have the usual choice of an extra skill available in the subclass options and gain proficiency in it. You'll also have access to the following features:

Bard Level

Description

Level 3

As a Bonus Action, you can become invisible and teleport up to 30 feet after giving out Bardic Inspiration.

Level 3

When healing, you can use your Bardic Inspiration and add the roll to increase your healing output.

Level 6

A cast of Moonlight will allow you to glow and shed light in an area, and whenever an enemy fails a save from it, another creature of your choice can regain Hit Points.

Level 14

You can replace using Bardic Inspiration with the roll of a d6 to save your Bardic Inspiration.

Cleric – Knowledge Domain

You may remember this domain from the 2014 Player's Handbook. The Knowledge Domain cleric returns with some changes to ithe way it works, bringing new options to the class and adjusting old features.

These clerics spend their days studying everything from tomes and history to art to arcane magic. They're usually found libraries, colleges and other educational institutes.

Alongside specific Domain spells, you'll gain proficiency in Artisan's Tools and two extra skills you'll also gain Expertise in. You'll also gain the following features:

Cleric Level

Description

Level 3

Use your Channel Divinity to cast a spell without using a spell slot while ignoring necessary components.

Level 6

You gain proficiency in Intelligence saves and Telepathy up to 60 feet with creatures equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Level 17

Use a bonus action to grant Advantage on D20 tests for an hour.

Fighter – Banneret

As you'd expect from a fighter, the Banneret subclass represents a character of justice, bravery, and skill. There are several areas across Faerun where you'll find Banneret fighters who can hail from and famous armies they can command in those areas.

As a Banneret you'll gain proficiency in a skill, get an extra language, and can learn other languages you've seen within a specific timeframe. You'll also be able ot cast Comprehend Languages for free, but only as a ritual spell. You'll also gain the following features:

Fighter Level

Description

Level 3

When you use Second Wind to regain Hit Points, creatures you choose also regain Hit Points equal to 1d4+ your fighter level.

Level 7

Creatures who benefit from your Second Wind to regain Hit Points also get Advantage on the next D20 test until the start of your next turn.

Level 10

Your Action Surge allows allies to attack or move with their reaction without provoking Opportunity Attacks.

Level 15

Allow an ally to reroll a Saving Throw with a bonus equal to your fighter level.

Level 18

You can't be Charmed or Frightened, and you get bonuses to other features you already have.

Paladin – Oath Of The Noble Genies

Paladins familiar with the elemental planes can take the Oath of the Noble Genies to draw power from different types of genies. They'll master the elements by drawing power from the genies of each.

You'll gain Genie-centric spells, proficiency in a specific skill, and a base Armor Class when not wearing armor. You'll also gain the following features:

Fighter Level

Description

Level 3

Your Channel Divinity becomes elemental, either dealing extra fire damage, pushing an enemy away, grappling an enemy, or allowing you to teleport.

Level 7

You can choose a type of damage that you and your allies become Resistant to. You can change this damage type at the start of each of your turns.

Level 15

Use your reaction to halve the damage of an attack against you and deal damage to the attacker on a failed save.

Level 20

Gain flight and turn a D20 test failure into a success for you and your allies for ten minutes.

Ranger – Winter Walker

Icewind Dale is home to the Winter Walker ranger. Growing up in and working constantly in the frozen lands there, these rangers have adapted completely to the climate.

Having to contend with the Underdark and difficult creatures such as Yetis and other arctic monsters, they're known for their strength and resilience.

Winter Walker rangers have Resistance to Cold damage, ignore Resistance to Cold damage for enemies, and deal additional Cold damage. Your Hunter's Mark grants you Temporary Hit Points, preventing the enemy from being able to take the Disengage action.

Along with specific ranger spells, you'll also gain the following benefits as you level up:

Ranger Level

Description

Level 7

Use a Magic action to allow a certain number of creatures to regain Hit Points and give them Advantage to avoid or end being Frightened.

Level 11

Use your reaction to force a creature that has hit you with an attack roll to make a Wisdom saving throw. If they fail, they're Stunned.

Level 15

Hunter's Mark gives you a ghostly, snowy form. You are immune to Cold damage, Cold damage emanates from you at the start of each turn, and you're immune to being Grappled, Restrained or Prone.

Your form can move through creatures and objects, but you'll take Force damage when you do.

Rogue – Scion Of The Three

Baldur's Gate 3 players will be intimately familiar with the Dead Three, Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul. You can now play as a rogue devoted to the Dead Three, drawing your power from these gods of Tyranny, Violence, and Murder.

When you take this subclass, if you see a Bloodied enemy within 30 feet who has taken damage, you can magically teleport to them and make a melee attack, potentially dealing the killing blow. You also gain resistance to a damage type associated with the god of your choice and a cantrip to cast.

The other features you'll gain are as follows:

Rogue Level

Description

Level 9

Your Cunning Strike allows you to give an enemy the Frightened condition on a failed save, granting you Advantage against them.

Level 13

When you teleport to a Bloodied enemy to use Bloodlust, you deal additional damage to an enemy within 10 feet of where you teleported from or where you're going. The damage type is the same as your Resistant type granted by the god of your choosing.

Level 17

A one or two roll on a Sneak Attack is treated as a three, and you regain the use of your Bloodlust ability on a Short Rest.

Sorcerer – Spellfire Sorcery

Taking power directly from the weave, Spellfire Sorcery allows sorcerers to manifest the rare spellfire that allows them to heal allies and decimate enemies in kind.

Alongside Spellfire specific spells you'll always have prepared, you'll also gain the following features when you level up:

Sorcerer Level

Description

Level 3

Whenever you use a Sorcery Point, you can either give Temporary Hit Points to a creature within 30 feet or deal Fire or Radiant damage to a creature in that range.

Level 6

You always have Counterspell prepared, and when a target fails against it, you regain Sorcery Points.

Level 14

You get more Hit Points or deal more damage with your level three ability Spellfire Burst.

Level 18

You gain Flight, you can reduce damage against yourself using Hit Die, and when you have to make a save against a spell, you take no damage if you succeed.

Wizard – Bladesinger

Making a return after being missing from the 2024 Player's Handbook, the Bladesinger wizard continues its old elven tradition created and learned centuries ago. The new Bladesinger has some significant differences from the original, with Bladesinging of course at its center.

When Bladesinging is active, you gain an AC and speed bonus and Advantage on Acrobatics checks. You can also use your Intelligence modifier for attack and damage rolls instead of Strength or Dexterity, and get to add your Intelligence modifier when saving for Concentration on a spell.

When leveling up, you'll gain proficiency in weapons, an extra skill, and you'll also gain the following features:

Wizard Level

Description

Level 6

You gain an extra attack and can cast a cantrip that requires an action in place of one of those attacks.

Level 10

As a reaction, you can expend a spell slot to reduce damage done to you.

Level 14

After casting a spell that requires an action, you can use a Bonus Action to make a weapon attack.
