Today, the House passed the NDO Fairness Act, a bipartisan bill that aims to strengthen safeguards around law enforcement requests for data stored in the cloud. For too long, outdated legal standards have allowed secrecy orders to be issued without the same safeguards that apply in the physical world. This legislation helps bring greater transparency and judicial oversight when the government seeks access to customer data. On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we honor the aid workers and volunteers supporting communities affected by conflict, disaster and displacement, often in extraordinarily difficult conditions. We also recognize the humanitarian organizations that enable and sustain their vital work. This year’s #ActForHumanity campaign is a reminder that protecting those who deliver life-saving assistance requires greater accountability and action. Technology should serve humanity.
