NOTE: This role is based in New York City and encourages a minimum of two days per week in the SoHo office. Some roles or teams may require additional in-office attendance if the essential functions of the role require it.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The PE for SMOR publishing supports the production of school market–only novelty items, book-plus products, and paperback books. Supervised by the Associate Production Director and following established schedules, they check project details and traffic files among the proofreading pool and the SMOR editorial/design team. This area does not have ebook or sales material responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- With Associate Production Director’s oversight, review and route passes of covers, interiors, and novelty components.
- For complex titles, work with manager on specialized processes or schedules.
- Create one biweekly status report and lead a team status meeting, with manager’s support.
- Participate in development of skills by joining team meetings, covering for colleagues on vacation, and learning on the job about other areas of production

Qualifications
HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic copyediting and proofreading knowledge with willingness to learn more
- Attention to detail of text, project specs, and artwork
- Ability to prioritize and identify problems in a high-volume work environment
- Strong computer skills, including facility with Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with multiple project stakeholders in written and in-person interactions
