August 26 is Women’s Equality Day, and Hachette Speakers Bureau is proud to spotlight Kathryn Kolbert, who has been fighting for women’s rights for decades.   Kathryn is an accomplished lawyer and activist whose book, Controlling Women, is a timely lesson on the history of reproductive rights in America and an urgent call to action for all who recognize that no woman can be truly free unless all women have the freedom to choose what happens to their own bodies.   If you’d like to host Kathryn at your next event, reach out to us today.   #WomensEqualityDay #GenderEquality #ReproductiveRights #KathrynKolbert

Around three weeks ago, I wrapped up my summer internship at Hachette Book Group. Being a part of the Communications team helped me develop my social media strategy, copywriting, and digital marketing skills while deepening my understanding of the publishing industry! I worked alongside the greatest team: Taylor Norton, Mitchell Leung, and Aya Elamroussi, led by the incredible Gabrielle Gambrell. A huge shoutout to my manager, Sojourner Elleby —this internship truly wouldn't have been the same without your guidance. I'm endlessly grateful for the Comms team's unwavering support and mentorship throughout the summer! I was also lucky enough to meet the most dedicated group of young professionals in the publishing industry. My summer was filled with so much ambition, camaraderie, and talent. I will forever be inspired by the interns in this cohort (and I will miss making silly TikToks around the office with you all). Thank you, Hachette Book Group, for a wonderful summer of learning and professional development! On to the next chapter! 📚✨

  • Celebrating New Leadership Across Hachette Audio’s Production Team 🎧 We’re excited to celebrate two well-deserved promotions within Hachette Audio: Laura Essex to Director or Audiobook Production, and Tom Messina to Director of Audiobook Post-Production. In her new role, Laura will serve as the primary production point person, translating author wishes and imprint business needs into strong production plans. Her leadership in overhauling Hachette Audio’s pre-production process has helped create greater transparency, strengthen cross-team relationships, and reshape how the Audio team collaborates across the business. Since joining Hachette Audio in August 2024, Tom has made a significant impact on the post-production process, developing and documenting new workflows while continually identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. As Director, Audiobook Post-Production, he will lead post-production priorities and workflows, helping translate each audiobook producer’s creative vision into action. Together, Laura and Tom will play important roles across the audiobook production process as Hachette Audio continues to strengthen its operations, collaboration, and commitment to bringing exceptional listening experiences to audiences. Please join us in congratulating Laura and Tom on their new roles! 🎉🎧 #HachetteAudio #HachetteBookGroup #Audiobooks #Publishing #Leadership #PublishingCareers

  • From the Newsroom to the Bookshelf: Hachette Book Group at NABJ 2026 Black journalists have long helped write the first draft of history. Books offer an opportunity to help shape how that history is remembered. At the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) 2026 Convention & Career Fair in Atlanta, Hachette Book Group and Legacy Lit brought that idea to the stage with “How Journalists Expand Their Imprint Through Authorship.” Moderated by Krishan Trotman, Vice President and Publisher of Legacy Lit, the conversation featured award-winning journalists and Legacy Lit authors Tiffany D. Cross, author of Love, Me; Roland Martin; and Errin Haines, President of NABJ. Together, they explored how the instincts developed through journalism can evolve into long-form storytelling—and why authorship isn’t a departure from journalism, but a continuation of it. For Black journalists in particular, books offer the space to bring greater context and permanence to reporting that documents truth, challenges power, and captures the experiences of communities in real time. “For me, this conversation is both professional and personal,” Haines shared. “Black journalists have always helped write the first draft of history; our books give us the opportunity to help shape how that history is ultimately remembered.” HBG is proud to support NABJ and its longstanding work to champion Black journalists, strengthen pathways for Black storytellers, and ensure the stories shaping our communities are not only told, but protected and preserved. Thank you to NABJ, Krishan, Tiffany, Roland, and Errin for an important and inspiring conversation.
