Victor Hugo Duran shared thisI’ve been thinking a lot about AI, technology and creativity lately. 🤖 New tools can help us make things faster, bigger, and sometimes things we’ve never seen before. But technology isn’t what makes us care. There still has to be something human at the center. ❤️ Episode 2: Terminator 2, and why technology is never more important than the story. 🎬 What’s a movie that changed the way you think about storytelling? 🚀

It explained what I was good at and where I could help. It was appropriately corporate-y. Then I actually started doing the work. And the work was fast, chaotic, messy, wickedly entertaining, and so very interesting. In a client meeting, someone said, “It’s like herding cats.” Without thinking, I retorted, “Herding cats is easy. Have you ever tried herding herders? Now THAT takes skill and finesse.” Whoa. That’s what I do. I herd corgis. 🖤 Herding Corgis. 🖤 Event strategy is chaos, coordinated. Strategy when you need perspective. Production when you need horsepower. Leadership when you need another grown-up in the room. And when everything and everyone inevitably starts running in different directions? Well, I’ve herded corgis. We’ll be fine. 🖤 Herding Corgis. 🖤

Victor Hugo Duran reposted thisVictor Hugo Duran reposted thisPMM friends — we're growing the team at Laurel! 👋 We're looking for a Product Marketing Manager to join us. I've been working with the Laurel marketing team for the past several months, and one of the most gratifying parts has been working on a product where you can see the value and impact for customers from day one. There's also SO much good PMM work to dig into — launches, positioning & messaging, sales enablement, competitive intel, opportunities to automate PMM workflows with AI, and much more. You'll get to work directly with a Product Marketing powerhouse, aka Briana Tischner and be in a role where the work you do has real, visible impact every day. If you're interested, or know of anyone who would be suitable, take a look at the role below in the comments or DM me if you want to chat!

Victor Hugo Duran reposted thisVictor Hugo Duran reposted thisThe thought that has stayed with me is that a product page isn’t a smaller creative canvas. It’s a tighter one. A film gives you sound, time, and an arc to carry an idea. On the digital shelf, you get a few frames, no music, almost no story, and a buyer deciding in seconds whether this is for them. Everything has to happen through composition, hierarchy, copy, texture, product truth, and the one promise you choose to lead with. That is not a lesser creative challenge. If anything, it is a more compressed one. So I started looking at where the idea was actually landing. And what we found was fairly consistent: a stack of assets rather than a directed experience. Copy that had gone flat. Product that no longer looked or felt like the real thing. Usage imagery without much life in it. The idea had been dying in a place we weren’t looking. Twenty years in, one thing I believe more strongly than ever is that brands are not sequences of campaigns. They are relationships. And relationships are built through presence. Being there, recognizably, in the moments that decide how someone feels about you. Beauty makes this especially visible. So much of the category is emotional: skin, memory, identity, ritual, how you want to feel when you walk out the door. We can spend months building that feeling, then hand the final inch before purchase to a production workflow. That was the tension behind PDP Studio. The question was never simply how to make product pages faster. It was: where should creative intelligence actually live? A large part of PDP work is repetitive by nature. Adapting one idea across retailers. Chasing specs. Rebuilding what already exists. So we designed a system to carry that part. What it buys us is not only speed. It buys us room. Room for strategy. For art direction. For deciding what the hero frame actually needs to say. For understanding what people value about the product, in their own words. For making the ten small decisions between a technically correct page and one that is genuinely convincing. And because the system is built to learn, every cycle gets sharper. It can see how people are talking about and using the product; it can move while the cultural moment is still relevant; and it can show us what is actually working. With creative hands throughout. Not waiting at the end with an approval stamp. The point, for me, is that creative quality and conversion were never opposites. We had simply stopped looking closely enough at the place where both get decided. Luísa Fedrizzi and I have been proudly showing PDP Studio to brands lately. If you’re thinking about what happens to your brand in that final inch before purchase, come talk to us. More on what we built in the comments! MATTER

Victor Hugo Duran shared this“I AM FAILURE!!!!” 😭 Yes, yes, I am… because failing is how you learn. 👩🎨 You figure out what doesn’t work. You take a little piece of what does. And you bring that into the next thing. 🚀 And if you’re lucky enough to work somewhere with a great creative culture, you should feel safe doing that. You should be encouraged to try things. 🌎 There’s no such a thing as a bad idea. 💡 Sometimes it’s just the wrong project. 🎨 The wrong stakeholder. 🥸 The wrong budget. 🤑 The wrong time. ⏰ I have an idea I’ve been trying to make work for years. 😵💫 I’ve pitched versions of it. Tried to force it into projects. Reworked it. Abandoned it. Brought it back. 😵 It’s never actually happened. 🥴 But little pieces of that idea have found their way into a ton of things I’ve made over the years. 🤠 And maybe that’s the point. 🤗 Not every idea needs to become the thing you originally imagined. 😮 Sometimes an idea fails so that a better one can steal from it. 🫥 So make the bad version. 🤓 Kill the thing that isn’t working. 🥹 Start over. 😎 And save the pieces. 🤖 You never know where they’ll show up next. ❤️ What are some of your best fails? 🥳

Victor Hugo Duran reposted thisVictor Hugo Duran reposted thisNothing bad happens when women have money. Dolly Parton died today at 80. I keep coming back to the same fact: she gave away more money than most of us will ever see, and she never once made you feel small for not having it. Dolly’s generosity is the manifestation of my mission — when women get rich, the world gets kinder. A few things she actually did, not just said: 1995: started the Imagination Library, mailing free books to kids every month from birth to kindergarten, named for the father who never learned to read. '80s: paid $500 to seventh and eighth graders who stayed in school together as "buddies." Her home county's dropout rate went from 35% to 6%. 2016: when wildfires tore through the Smokies, she skipped the press release and wired $1,000 a month, for six months, straight to families who'd lost their homes. 2017: gave $1 million to Vanderbilt's children's hospital after watching her niece go through leukemia treatment there. 2020: put $1 million toward COVID vaccine research. That money helped fund the Moderna shot. 2022: Jeff Bezos handed her $100 million. She moved it straight back out to causes she'd already spent a lifetime funding. Most of this, we only found out about later, from other people. That's the wealth I want more of. Rest easy, Dolly.

It's been an incredible run. In that time I: 📸 Photographed campaigns and talent around the world 🚀 Built out PayPal's A.I. image generation capabilities from the ground up 🎨 Led photography through 3 full brand rebrands 🏃 Photographed Usain Bolt (still can't quite believe that one) ...and a whole lot more along the way. To everyone I worked with, learned from, and grew alongside, thank you. This journey wouldn't have been what it was without you. Now I'm looking ahead. I'm open to Art Director or Photography Lead roles where I can bring that same mix of creative vision and production experience to a new team. If you're hiring, know someone who is, or just want to connect, I'd love to hear from you. #OpenToWork #ArtDirector #PhotographyLead #Photography #CreativeLeadership

Discovery for Google Next 2026 focused heavily on evolution and behavioral equity. The process centered around understanding what should be preserved, where the system could be pushed further, and how the identity could continue evolving alongside the broader event experience. Through collaborative workshops, audits, and early motion exploration, we worked closely with the Google Cloud team to establish direction before anything entered production.

Dynamic Identity Is Becoming the New Revenue Strategy for 2026 Meeting CROs and CMOs in New York last week made one thing clear to me, as we plan for FY2026: Customers should no longer be seen as "profiles" but as dynamic and moving states. The teams who design for that motion are pulling ahead. Examples I heard: - A beauty brand updates customer “states” every hour and lifted replenishment instantly. - A hospitality brand reorders the journey based on real-time intent and boosts conversions. - A CPG team updates each product’s “demand state” by tracking how quickly discovery spikes across retailers and TikTok, giving them a dynamic identity for each SKU and earlier visibility into sell-through. Teams that build around dynamic identities are seeing earlier signals, cleaner decisions, and more reliable growth. However, dynamic identities only work when teams can capture signals continuously. This is why building a unified data layer to clean, connect, and activate those signals is becoming the real competitive advantage (& where Riley AI comes in) Read more about how to build dynamic identities on my blog (link in comments)

“I built my first website years ago using early Macromedia tools, and that experience shaped my love for creative technology.” My journey into design didn’t start with drag-and-drop tools. It started with curiosity, code, and the early creative technologies that shaped the modern web. That moment changed everything for me. Since then, the creative landscape has evolved dramatically. Today, countless tools promise quick design solutions and free alternatives. They can be useful, but they still only scratch the surface of what a truly integrated creative ecosystem looks like. For decades, Adobe has been building something deeper—tools that empower designers, filmmakers, photographers, and storytellers to push creative boundaries and bring ideas to life at a professional level. From pixel-level precision to advanced motion, design systems, and now AI-assisted creativity, the ecosystem continues to shape how the world creates. For those of us who take design seriously, the difference isn’t just about tools—it’s about creative control, depth, and possibility. The future of creativity is not coming. It’s already here. And it’s still evolving.
