Rebekah Wilks shared thisOne of my favorite days of the year is celebrating the graduates of Total Quality Logistics' Technology Software Development Apprenticeship Program. Today, we recognized our fourth cohort of apprentices, and it's a great reminder of how committed TQL is to investing in talent and creating new paths into Technology. The idea behind the program is simple: some of the best future technologists are already here. They understand our business, our customers, and our culture. We help them build technology skills on top of that foundation because, in an AI-driven world, that combination is more valuable than ever. That's what makes this group so impressive. They took a chance on themselves, embraced the challenge of learning something new, and expanded their capabilities in ways that will benefit them and TQL for years to come. Congratulations to this year's graduates, and thank you to the leaders, mentors, and teammates who made this journey possible. Rebekah Wilks liked thisRebekah Wilks liked thisDear Total Quality Logistics, As I sit here on my final day and reflect on nearly 17 years, I can’t help but shed a few tears. To say this moment is bittersweet would be an understatement. When I first walked through these doors in 2010, I was basically a kid. Fresh out of college. Unsure of myself. Trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and, if I’m being real, a little terrified of what the “real world” had in store for me. Somewhere along the way, this place became home. I grew up here. I learned business here. I learned leadership here. I learned how to fail, get back up, adapt, compete, collaborate, and keep growing. I came here as a young man trying to build a career. I leave as a husband, a father, a leader, and someone with a much clearer understanding of who I am and the impact I want to have on the world. And TQL played a huge role in all of it. Over the years, coworkers became friends. Friends became family. Mentors challenged me. Teammates believed in me. People gave me opportunities before I was completely ready for them and trusted me to figure it out. For that, I will forever be grateful. We built a lot together. We solved some hard problems. We celebrated some big wins. We had plenty of disagreements, long days, laughs, lessons, and moments I will never forget. But when I look back, what I will remember most will always be the people. Hundreds of relationships and countless memories that I will carry with me long after today. This was never just a chapter of my life. It was a whole book. And while I am incredibly excited to start writing the next one, I know I am prepared for what comes next because of everything this place poured into me. TQL will always be home. I will always root for this company. I will always rep TQL when I can. And I truly hope the relationships I have built here continue long into the future. So this isn’t goodbye. It’s see you later. There were a lot of great minds in the room sharing real-world AI use cases that are adding value to their organizations. It’s exciting to see the conversation continuing to shift from “What could we do with AI?” to “Here’s what we’re doing, what we’ve learned, and the value it’s creating.” One of the best parts of events like this is the willingness of leaders across different industries to openly share their trials and tribulations - we’re all moving faster because of it. Big shout-out to Ryan Kean for hosting at TQL’s amazing facility, and Chris Berry, Keith Instone , and Ben Blanquera for their continued leadership in bringing groups like this together, helping Ohio organizations learn from one another, and shining a light on all of the great innovation happening right here in our state. Ross School of Business for the Executive MBA program’s orientation week. Our cohort had about 90 professionals split between the Ann Arbor and Los Angeles campuses. It would take more words than a LinkedIn post allows (which is a lot) to accurately sum up my time here. I have seen so much growth in myself both personally and professionally over the last few years, and there is truly nowhere else I would’ve rather started my career. It has been 4 years filled with learning, growing, memories, challenges, laughs, frustrations, and most importantly, wonderful people. The people make the place, and MAN does this place have great people. There are far too many for me to thank in one post, but I do want to shout out a few in particular. To Temple Neace, Scott Sinclair, and Ryne Heck. I can’t thank you all enough for taking a chance on little freshly graduated Allie. You all believed in me enough to bring me onto the team, even when I wasn’t fully sure I believed enough in myself. I can’t thank you all enough for helping me get my foot in the tech door. To my incredible manager Mark Brueckner and my wonderful teammates Nolan HollingsworthNolan Hollingsworth, Adam Duvendack, Sarah Rangel, Trevor Cromwell, and Avivi Huynh, CSPO there is not a day that goes by that I’m not thankful for this team. You all have supported me and pushed me in countless ways, and I know I wouldn’t be the developer, and person, I am today without you all. There aren’t enough words to describe how much you all mean to me! And to everyone else who was a part of my TQL journey, thank you. I will miss all the laughs, the teamwork, the baking for everyone, and even the frustrating days where we wanted to bash our heads into keyboards. I will miss you all more than you know! But with the sad goodbye also comes an exciting new hello. I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be joining INVOKE as an Intelligent Automation Consultant. Standard LTL carriers are usually NOT the right fit for residential deliveries Anytime you say this the “LTL-only” diehards come flying out of the woodwork. “You’re an idiot.” “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” "This is just BS" What these people fail to realize is that there are real nationwide, full-mile home-delivery networks that exist today… Here's how it usually plays out with LTL carriers. Curbside delivery. Vague appointment windows. Residential fees. Liftgate fees. Appointment fees. Freight class pricing. Over-length charges (possibly). Higher damage percentage. Customer Communication issues. Most customers don't know how LTL works. They expect an Amazon-like experience and end up standing in the driveway staring at a pallet, saying “Well SH*T” But sure, let’s keep pretending that is the best setup for residential delivery. Here’s the part those people hate hearing: These home-delivery carriers move freight through a similar linehaul, similar transit flow, and the same ability to move big and bulky products across the country. The difference is they are actually built for the final delivery to a home. Better at setting appointments with technology built for specific delivery windows. 2-man crews. Doorstep & Threshold is the basic service level. Room-of-choice and full white glove + assembly is available. Lower damage % because they are built around handling residential big and bulky items. Then there is pricing. Typical LTL assessorials like a $75 residential fee, $75 liftgate fee, $50 appointment fee and freight class pricing. Or in some cases, an over-length fee that ranges from $150 to $1,000+ depending on the carrier and exact length. Now for Home-delivery carriers… Instead of the freight class circus, home-delivery pricing is based solely on weight, dimensions, and a zone-based rate. For residential, liftgate, and appointment assessorials, home-delivery carriers will wrap all of those into a simple $25 "home-delivery" fee and over-length is more like $50. That is a massive difference, especially for brands shipping furniture, vanities, fitness equipment, wall paneling, saunas, pergolas, cold plunges, or anything else big and bulky going to a residence. For shippers, it just means you found a more expensive way to do the job with a lesser customer delivery experience. Spend more time on CS calls. & Less than 5-star reviews on the website. So yes, an LTL carrier CAN force its way into a residential delivery if you pay enough. That DOES NOT mean LTL carriers are bad, relax... It just means they're USUALLY not the best tool for residential delivery. #RocketShipping #HomeDelivery #Threshold #BigandBulky #CustomerExperience

I’ve looked at hundreds of 3PL websites over my career, and almost all of them show the exact same thing: towering shelves, drones, and gleaming forklifts. The Problem: Notice what’s missing? The actual customer. There is a massive disconnect in e-commerce logistics right now. Your 3PL is obsessing over what happens inside their four walls, picking speeds, pallet positions, and cost-per-order. But your buyer doesn't care about warehouse KPIs. They care if their delivery was predictable, if the tracking was accurate, and if returning an item felt like a punishment. When your logistics partner focuses strictly on internal execution, your brand suffers from silent failures that quietly kill retention. The Solution: It’s time to rethink alignment. We need to stop building logistics from the warehouse out, and start designing them from the customer’s front porch backward. The right partner knows that a perfect pick-rate means nothing if the final delivery experience feels broken. Want to see if your logistics are actually driving repeat purchases?
