Sophie Lasry shared thisAlex, I am so grateful for you—your strength, your heart, your life. You are my miracle. Always.Sophie Lasry shared thisSometimes miracles are right in front of us. Over the last few weeks, I experienced something that can only be described as a miracle. Last summer, I had some chest pain and went through a full cardiac checkup — heart, cholesterol, blood pressure, the whole nine yards. Thank G-d, everything came back clear. I moved on with life. A few weeks ago, my wife, Sophie Lasry — truly my guardian angel — suggested we do a full preventive MRI body scan out of the blue because she had an instinct something felt off. As fate would have it: it always pays to listen to your wife! I agreed, not expecting anything unusual. The results revealed something I never could have imagined: a golf ball–sized tumor in my chest, between my heart and lungs. With the help of G-d and modern medicine, I underwent surgery just two short weeks later, and the tumor was successfully removed. The diagnosis: Thymoma — a rare form of cancer, approximately 1.2 cases per million people. I feel profoundly blessed that it was discovered early, giving me the opportunity to act swiftly and decisively. The entire experience has filled me with immense gratitude — to G-d, to my wife for her instinct and insistence, and to the extraordinary medical team at Weill Cornell who cared for me with such love and compassion. I am still recovering, but this has been a powerful reminder: listen to the people who love you, prioritize your health, and never take a single day for granted. Grateful beyond words. Shabbat Shalom. ❤

Sophie Lasry reposted thisSophie Lasry reposted thisThree years ago, our lives changed forever. My wife, Sophie Lasry, was in a terrible car accident and was treated at Weill Cornell Medicine, fighting for her life and for our unborn baby boy. Through G-d’s help, the extraordinary dedication of the doctors and nurses, the love of our families, and the power of prayer, Sophie and Jacob made a miraculous recovery — a journey that continues to this day. In Judaism, there’s a beautiful concept called “Hakarat Hatov” — recognizing the good and expressing gratitude. This idea has been at the heart of our family’s journey. In that spirit, Sophie and I have made a gift to Weill Cornell Medicine to support trauma patients and their families — to pay forward the compassion and care that gave us a second chance at life. I’m endlessly in awe of Sophie — her strength, resilience, and determination to turn hardship into hope continue to inspire me every day. #PayItForward #WeillCornell #Medicine #Impact #Philanthropy #HakaratHatov #Judaism https://lnkd.in/erCMFrRaExtraordinary Care at Weill Cornell Medicine Inspires Gift for Trauma Patients and Women’s HealthExtraordinary Care at Weill Cornell Medicine Inspires Gift for Trauma Patients and Women’s Health

Sophie Lasry shared thisThis Chanukah, our family reflected on the miracles in our lives, especially the blessing of being together at home. Our kids understand how fortunate they are to have both mommy and Jacob home with them, and they recognize that not all children share this gift. To honor this, we visited the ICU and pediatric center @weilcornellmedicine and @wcmemergency where we met the doctors caring for kids who couldn’t be home for the holidays. As we celebrate Chanukah which is a light of Miracles, in 2025, we are committed to spreading joy and making a difference in the lives of those who need it! Alex Swieca

Advisors and asset managers came ready to engage, exploring the macro environment, shifts in portfolios, and the evolving role of AI in day-to-day workflows and client outcomes. The open exchange of ideas and perspectives created an energizing environment where everyone walked away with something new to consider—the core intent behind CAIS Live. A highlight was our keynote speaker, Mark Messier, who shared reflections on leadership and the dynamics that shape high-performing groups. His perspective on accountability, shared purpose, and continuous learning offered a nuanced reminder of how strong teams evolve—insights that resonated well beyond the rink and into the way we think about partnership and progress in our industry. Beyond the sessions, the experience reflected how the CAIS team introduced our partners to the very best of Kiawah Island. From tennis at the world-class Roy Barth Tennis Center to rounds at the world-renowned Ocean Course, and an unforgettable oyster boat tour along the coast, every element was thoughtfully curated. It was a chance to engage not just in conversation, but in the setting itself—bringing together the best of land and sea in a way that made the entire event both memorable and meaningful Alex Cavalieri Brad Walker Brendan Cuddihy Marc Premselaar Ron Miller Chris Zuczek

We raised a record-breaking $2.6 million. Players, coaches, front office, community leaders and supporters all showed up in force to invest in SYF’s mission – using the power of basketball and the 76ers brand to uplift and inspire the next generation. Seeing the Philadelphia 76ers organization rally around this work was a reminder of how much reach and responsibility we have. SYF has already demonstrated what that responsibility looks like in action. Thousands of kids reached through basketball clinics, refurbished courts, and academic enrichment programs that give young people the tools to succeed on and off the court. I’m especially proud of my incredible wife, Marjorie Harris, Chair of SYF, whose vision, dedication, and heart are behind every dollar raised and every young life this organization touches. Thank you to every donor, sponsor, and supporter who made the night possible.

Among major professional sports leagues, NFL teams are valued dramatically higher than teams in any other league, including global properties like the NBA and Formula 1. The gap widens further when compared with MLB, global soccer, the NHL, MLS, and women’s leagues, as the NFL’s massive media deals and national popularity continue to drive the highest team valuations in sports. Sophie Lasry liked thisSophie Lasry liked thisJPMorganChase just made a major move, and it says a lot about the future of the athlete economy 👀 Yesterday, they launched an “Athlete Council” led by athletes such as: • Tom Brady • Dwyane Wade • Alex Morgan • Jalen Brunson • Kayvon Thibodeaux • Ally Love • A’ja Wilson • Sue Bird • Megan Rapinoe The new athlete-led council is focused on helping players navigate money, longevity, and life after the game. But there's a bigger sign behind this. There's now an entire ecosystem of financial services, data, deal flow, and education being built and tailored toward athletes. Athletes today aren’t just athletes. They’re allocating capital, building portfolios, and thinking like holding companies and global brands. JPMorgan sees that shift. And they’re going at the whole system: ‣ College athletes earning NIL money ‣ Young pros making their first real check ‣ Former athletes trying to make money for 40+ years The reality about athlete careers is that they make a lot of money, fast, but their financial lifecycle is completely different from that of traditional clients. They have short windows, unpredictable lifestyles, and can retire young. And historically, the system hasn’t been built for them. That’s why we see all of the statistics on the number of athletes who struggle financially after they’re done playing. So what JPMorgan is doing is bigger than just a PR push. They’re trying to own the entire financial lifecycle of athletes, from NIL deals to private equity investments. This also validates what we've been preaching for years. Athletes aren’t just endorsers and ambassadors anymore. They’re investors, LPs, owners, and dealmakers. And now big Wall Street money is competing for athlete relationships early. They recognize that whoever gets the athlete at 14–22 years old likely keeps them for life. The intersection of athletes, capital, and technology is only getting bigger, and now, global financial institutions are positioning themselves around it. Sophie Lasry liked thisSophie Lasry liked thisLast week’s 2nd Annual Avenue Capital Group Power Play Sponsorship Summit at Cosm Los Angeles was a powerful reminder of just how quickly the sports industry is evolving - and how much opportunity still lies ahead. Marc Lasry set the tone early, sharing Avenue Capital Group’s conviction around investing in sports and the accelerating growth across emerging leagues and teams. It’s clear that what was once considered “alternative” in sports is quickly becoming mainstream. The day closed with Rich Paul, who brought a candid and insightful perspective on the intersection of athletes, brands, and ownership. His experiences reinforced a simple truth: the most impactful partnerships are built on trust, alignment, and long-term vision - not just transactions. A personal highlight for me was joining my friend Miles Rogers from Archer, along with Vanessa Perdomo from Bloomberg, to talk about how we’re approaching sports partnerships today. We discussed why our brands are willing to take big swings, how authenticity has become non-negotiable, and why the best partnerships today are less about logo placement and more about creating real, shared experiences with customers and fans. Huge thanks to Jeb Terry and the entire Cosm team as well as Kimberly Bartner and the Avenue Capital Group team for hosting us all at one of the most immersive venues in sports. Jeb - sorry about your Tar Heels. The takeaway is simple: the future of sports partnerships isn’t passive. It’s immersive, experiential, and built around genuine connection. The brands and properties that understand this—and invest accordingly—are the ones that will win. If you want to learn more about our US SailGP Team shoot me a message!

Pinegrove Opportunity Partners raises $2.2bn to capitalise on venture secondaries boom. Brookfield Asset Management and Sequoia Heritage anchored the vehicle with a combined $500m commitment. Other limited partners include the State Board of Administration of Florida. Pinegrove plans to deploy most of the capital directly into mid- to late-stage private technology companies that are approaching profitability. The remaining capital will be invested in funds or other vehicles. “Over the past decade, the landscape for venture capital and growth investing has undergone a structural shift. Companies are staying private longer, which creates significant capital needs as stakeholders seek liquidity options to de-risk and diversify their portfolios,” said managing partner and chief investment officer Brian Laibow in a statement. PITCHBOOK: PE finds momentum in construction as other sectors stall By James Ulan, Director of Research, Emerging Technology PE's most improved player in 2025 was the construction industry, which has seen a steady increase in dealmaking as other segments warmed the bench. The sector reached an estimated 453 deals and over $31 billion in funding last year—up from 2021-2024's average of 299 pacts and $25.9 billion, according to our debut US Private Equity Momentum Report. Within construction, the construction tech segment was a huge standout at over $4 billion in PE funding in 2025, compared to $1.2 billion in 2024. Engineering reached an estimated $20.9 billion, compared to an average of $18.5 billion in 2021-2024. Our analysts believe construction and engineering are benefiting from the delayed impact of the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, along with the data center construction boom, some reshoring and declining interest rates. And PE buyers are gaining experience combining construction assets to improve margins and increase scale. Where PE investors spent less time was at the doctor’s office, as deal value for physician practice management companies fell by around half relative to their 2022-2024 average. Other parts of healthcare services, consumer staples, consumer packaged goods, and areas of aerospace and defense were other laggards. Exit activity told a similar story. Construction exits surged to $92 billion in 2025, far above the $12.7 billion average from 2021 to 2024, while engineering exits rose to $9.2 billion from a $5.9 billion historical average. By contrast, healthcare services lagged amid policy uncertainty tied to tighter Medicaid eligibility and the loss of enhanced premium tax credit subsidies for health insurance exchanges.

A joint venture led by L+M Development Partners LLC secured $278 million in construction financing for the first residential phase of the Arverne East master plan in Far Rockaway, Queens. The financing led by the Urban Investment Group at Goldman Sachs will fund Arverne East Building D, delivering 320 units, including 230 affordable rentals and 90 potential homeownership units. The broader Arverne East development will ultimately bring 1,650 mixed-income homes to a 116-acre site vulnerable to coastal flooding. Designed with net-zero technologies, rooftop solar, ground source heat pumps, and flood resilient construction, the project reflects how affordable housing can simultaneously advance climate adaptation, environmental performance, and generational wealth building. This milestone highlights the power of public private capital partnerships to scale resilient, transit oriented, and community centered development, particularly in neighborhoods historically impacted by climate events like Superstorm Sandy.
