Michelle Carter shared thisConsumer Bankers Association (“CBA Live 2026 - Make Headway”) is a wrap. It was great to be in San Diego this week meeting with so many of our customers. I enjoyed sharing the stage with Corey Cederquist, Head of Data Science at Barclays during our Mastercard session “Agentic Commerce and the Next Era of Banking.” We discussed the overall direction of the industry as intelligent agents become part of everyday commerce. We explored how trust, security and responsible design can support these emerging behaviors while keeping customer choice and clarity at the center. A key area we unpacked, was how organizations can truly ready themselves to embrace and thrive within an agentic world. #CBALive #MastercardServices #AgenticCommerce

Michelle Carter shared thisThis past Thursday, it was great to be part of the kickoff for the second MENTORO cohort that I’ve been a mentor for. This time in partnership with the WJA, thanks to Gabrielle Grazi and Robert J. Goldberg. Enjoyed seeing so many other ‘boomerang’ mentors like Tisha C., Doug Jensen, Matthew Fasciano, Luis Spencer Freitas, as well as Mentoro’s leader, Sandra Abi-Rashed and advisors, Vince Dell'Osa, Julie Goldsman and Theresa R. Fortunato, SPHR. Looking forward to leading a session next month on Self Advocacy, and to mentoring the talented Angela Monaco during this cohort. Mentorship is such a key component of how we lead at Mastercard, and being able to also share that externally amplifies the impact. #MastercardServices #Mentoring #GivingBack #Mentoro

Michelle Carter shared thisReally enjoyed sitting down with Laura Skinner of NeWell to discuss the A-Z of Sales Leadership. Was fun to dive into topics ranging from gamification/rewards to prioritization, learning from losses and so much more. At Mastercard, we are always evolving the way we go to Market to ensure we're consistently meeting our customers' needs and supporting their growth. Feedback is essential for acceleration. #MastercardServices #SalesLeadership https://lnkd.in/ebTPraaiMichelle Carter shared thisMichelle Carter, Executive Vice President Services Business Development, North America at Mastercard leads Mastercard's commercial efforts for the Services Organization. In this conversation with Laura Skinner, Michelle breaks down what it takes to lead at scale, from setting realistic quotas that keep teams motivated, to using gamification and recognition to drive performance, to making sure you're prioritizing your time where it matters most. She also talks about why the best leaders know when to step back and let their team carry the conversation, how to retain top talent, and why saying "no" to the wrong things is just as important as saying "yes" to the right ones. If you're leading a sales team or building one, this conversation is packed with real-world lessons from someone doing it at one of the world's largest companies. Previously, Ashley spent 9 years at American Express. Mike has rejoined Mastercard having spent 4 years as the Chief Commercial Officer at Banyan, and more recently as a Senior Advisor to Bilt post Banyan’s acquisition. Michelle Carter shared thisFlashback to last week, when I gathered our North America Mastercard Services Business Development leaders within our key segments: Issuers, Merchants, Digital Partners, Fintech and Cobrand to kick off the year and discuss 2026 priorities. From AI, Digital Disbursements, Acquisition, Stablecoin, Cyber and so much more. The team is energized and excited to partner across all of our segments in 2026 to drive value for our customers. One of the highlights from our time together was the excellent panel we had with Tiffany Hall, our Mastercard General Counsel, Alfred Kibe, our CFO for the Americas and Marc Del Bene, our EVP and Head of Strategy for Services. They each shared a ton of insights with the team around leadership, career moves and ensuring balance. #MastercardServices #BusinessDevelopment #2026

With new services rushing in to fill a perceived gap in SMB banking service, banks can’t afford to hold back on innovation. SMBs are leaving traditional banks for fintechs that make it easier to manage money, pay bills, and keep track of expenses. Businesses need more than just a bank - they need tools that help run their finances smoothly and stay on top of operations. Pollinate gives banks the tools to deliver the services SMBs need, while keeping the trust and reliability only a bank can provide. #SMBSuccess #BankingInnovation #DigitalBanking https://lnkd.in/g5k3RBu9

Society is no longer interested in waiting in line at a bank. Fintech has shifted financial power from physical locations to digital devices, reshaping how emerging markets unlock opportunities, drive inclusion, and fuel growth. From digital identity to cross-border remittances, this isn’t just about convenience, it’s building scalable digital infrastructures. In Africa, it’s a foundation for sustainable, people centered innovation. We’re not just witnessing change; the digital ecosystem defines what integrated trust looks like in a digitized financial future. #FintechLeadership #DigitalIdentity #FinancialInclusion #AfricanFintech #BridgingWorlds #LawrenceEta #Canada #Nigeria #SaudiArabia #FintechEvolution #SmartFinance "

Real-time payments are proving to be more secure than traditional methods like checks and ACH. Yet myths about fraud risk continue to slow adoption, with many banks still playing it safe. Speed doesn’t mean vulnerability when the right tools are in place. https://lnkd.in/gQHqEc9A

This is HUGE! Unified standards don’t mean less competition—they actually encourage more. With shared standards, every new player can instantly connect to the existing ecosystem. Think about the Internet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, JPG, MP4, and more. Can you imagine living in a world where each hotel used its own unique wireless system instead of the Wi-Fi standard? Or where you needed dozens of different cables just to charge your phone? Standards are essential for the healthy development of any market. This Alliance itself is proof that fragmentation hurts progress, and that working together toward a single standard benefits everyone.

For SMBs, payment behavior reflects business reality, not resistance to change. We have the tools. We have the technology. We have the clients. Yet, driving adoption is still a challenge. The latest PYMNTS SMB Growth Report, shows that many of the most cash-dependent businesses are also the most eager to move away from it. If they can get the right tools and support, that is. A good reminder that innovation alone doesn’t drive adoption. Solutions have to fit real workflows and come with human backup when it counts. Worth a read for anyone building, serving, or advising SMBs. https://lnkd.in/g4MHBDXN

EMVCo is preparing what could be the biggest shift in card payments since tap-to-pay: a universal standard for how AI agents complete purchases. Autonomous shopping bots are already boosting conversion for power users by a wide margin, but they’ve lacked a simple and secure way to actually transact. That gap is finally closing. A new agent-present category will sit alongside card-present and card-not-present transactions. It allows AI agents to pay using delegated authority, with limits set by the user and tied to biometric authentication. There are no clunky 3DS detours and no added friction. Checkout simply flows through secure EMV tokens running in the background. Merchants will validate an agent’s credentials against a global EMVCo standard. When an agent meets the requirements, issuers take on the risk. When it doesn’t, liability remains with the merchant. This clarity helps prevent a patchwork of proprietary solutions and keeps the ecosystem interoperable across emerging protocols like x402, ACP, A2P and the existing card networks. By bringing together FIDO, SRC and network tokenization, EMVCo is moving autonomous commerce from early experimentation into real, scalable infrastructure. Developers, merchants and issuers should be watching closely. Agentic payments are about to reshape risk models, authentication flows and the consumer experience. Here’s the latest:
