Stephanie Layser shared thisThroughout my career I realized how impactful data was to making business decisions - AI is just an acceleration to activating on that data, so you can make those decisions faster. Here's a clip of me eventually getting to that point ;) This and takes on the latest news with Myles Younger and Shiv Gupta where you get your podcasts https://lnkd.in/gCFMScdQStephanie Layser shared thisWe finally got Stephanie Layser on the U of Digital pod. Huge milestone. Companies in marketing, advertising, and media have been investing for years getting their data foundations set up, with much of that work happening on cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS). But partway through that journey, LLMs came along and completely changed the game in terms of how we can all *work* with that data. A bunch of publishers and CMOs didn't suddenly wake up in 2022 and 2023 and realize that data was incredibly valuable. Many already knew it and had been investing in backend data infrastructure for *years*, many going back to the 2010s. I just find that kind of fascinating, where you start laying a foundation because it's clearly the right approach to take, but you get vindicated partway through because the business value of that foundation goes up 1,000x.

Stephanie Layser shared thisYes!Stephanie Layser shared thisEarlier this year, I noticed a pattern in how some leaders talk about AI. They call AI an "employee." They say the people overseeing agents are "managers." There's a kernel of truth in that framing. It speaks to genuinely new ways of working. But it leads too many organizations down the wrong path: replacing people with agents, rather than asking the bigger question: how do you use AI to enable your people to achieve what was never possible before? I think the better mental model comes from sports. In 1961, the fiberglass pole replaced metal in pole vaulting. Athletes broke the world record 19 times in a single decade. Graphite rackets transformed tennis. These technologies didn't compete with athletes. They let extraordinary humans exceed what anyone thought was possible. That's exactly what AI does in business. United Airlines uses AI to deliver personalized delay explanations to more than half a million passengers a day, at a scale no team of any size could ever achieve. World Surf League unified 50 years of performance data into a real-time AI platform, cutting broadcast prep by 80% and freeing commentators to tell stories instead of digging through spreadsheets. In both cases, AI wasn't about efficiency. It was about delivering value that simply didn't exist before. I wrote about this balance in Fortune, and the link is below. I'd love to hear how you're using AI to raise the bar and break records of your own. What's working for your teams? Tell me in the comments. https://lnkd.in/dvz3KirF

Stephanie Layser reposted thisStephanie Layser reposted thisChalice AI's capabilities for Amazon DSP have arrived. Read about how we integrated via AWS to improve offline and online commerce for Bayer. Congrats and thank you to Bayer's programmatic in-house team for achieving results most agency trading desks can't deliver. Love this advice from Bayer's Head of Media & Digital, Maria Givens: "Bring in partners that you believe understand your business outcomes [and] are willing to co-create for you. The questions we have, the business challenges that we have, are not off-the-shelf solutions. Find the partners who want to co-create with you in a brand-safe, transparent way." Now in our seventh year, investing profits and scaling capabilities, I'm ready to say we're no longer "just getting started." Chalice is 100% platform-agnostic, independent, modular, architected for per-advertiser service and consistently producing advertiser IP.

Stephanie Layser shared thisI really like this WSJ article on one of my favorite people to talk to. Yes I bug him about industry things but occasionally he’ll answer my ponderings like “do we like Neil DeGrasse Tyson or nah” so he’s not just AI interesting, he’s just generally cool

Stephanie Layser reposted thisStephanie Layser reposted thisGreat to see UNICORN join the AWS RTB Fabric ecosystem. As one of Japan’s largest DSPs, UNICORN processes more than 1.2 trillion impressions every month. At that scale, the efficiency of every connection and every millisecond matters. RTB Fabric gives UNICORN a simpler path to connect with more advertising partners, while reducing infrastructure cost and optimizing network paths to lower transaction latency. That translates into faster ad delivery and better outcomes for advertisers, publishers and users. It’s especially exciting to see UNICORN looking beyond Japan, using this foundation to help advance the open internet across Southeast Asia and Taiwan. Welcome to RTB Fabric, UNICORN. Looking forward to what we can accomplish together. #AdTech #Programmatic #AWS #RTBFabric https://lnkd.in/gC4k8uYj

Stephanie Layser shared thisIt’s a fun place to work right now 🚀Stephanie Layser shared thisQ2 showed strong momentum at Amazon Web Services (AWS). We grew 37% YoY on a very large base, our fastest growth in 18 quarters, as customers moved AI workloads into production. Highlights from the quarter: ▪️Amazon Bedrock added more customers in the last six months than in the first two years after launch. Customer spend on Bedrock in Q2 exceeded all prior quarters combined. ▪️Bedrock AgentCore revenue grew more than 4x QoQ, with Policies, Payments, Web Search, and a new Harness built in for deploying agents at scale. ▪️Kiro usage tripled QoQ and it’s up to 50% more cost-effective than others. ▪️Amazon Quick monthly active AI users grew nearly 4x QoQ. 3M, BMW Group, Intuit, the National Football League (NFL), Southwest Airlines, and more are using it today. ▪️We previewed AWS Continuum. It finds security risks, works out which ones matter for your business, validates them, and recommends the fix. ▪️Amazon’s chips business exceeded a $25B annual revenue run rate. Graviton delivers up to 30-40% better price-performance. 98% of our top 1,000 EC2 customers use it. Trainium demand remains strong from Anthropic, OpenAI, and startups like Neura Robotics and Odyssey. ▪️Customers across industries continue choosing AWS, including Warner Bros. Discovery, Vodafone, Siemens Energy, Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline, Pinterest, Snowflake, and more. Still early, still growing. Thank you to our customers, partners, and the AWS team: https://lnkd.in/eAzkP88z

Stephanie Layser shared thisReal life example of bot investigation! Next step: charging them for access 😎Stephanie Layser shared thisFor several days, I thought I had gone viral on a whole new level. My daily blog reads jumped from around 600 to nearly 2,800, with a single post carrying almost the entire spike. Then the skepticism crept in: my daily reports couldn't tell me where the new readers were coming from, and a jump that large, with nothing to explain it, felt less like a win than a question. It pulled me into an investigation across AWS WAF, the CloudFront console, and a long back-and-forth with Claude. In this post, you will learn how I spotted the AI bots crawling my site, why they burn your CloudFront quota and pollute your analytics, and how I fought back with AWS WAF, from challenges and blocking to charging bots for access. https://lnkd.in/dsFB5jMcMy Blog's Biggest Fans Are AI Bots. Stephanie Layser reposted thisStephanie Layser reposted thisBig milestone for our Advertising Technology team at Axel Springer: together with AWS, we built our own Prebid Server setup and connected it with AWS RTB Fabric. The goal is simple: we want to have much more control over our bidding systems, infrastructure, data and how fast we can improve the setup. The first results are already strong: * Median latency reduced from 45–80 ms to under 10 ms * Bidder timeout rate reduced from 8–12% to under 2% * Data-transfer costs reduced by 66% A big thank you to Amazon Web Services (AWS) , especially Stephanie Layser Alex König und Thomas Lutz for the great collaboration and for making this case study happen. Also thank you to Dennis Bappert for giving the first impulse, Robert Blanck for supporting the project from the beginning, Baudisch René and Steffen Karl for building and driving the technical implementation, and Michael Ermer for bringing so much speed into the next phase. And this is really only the first step. With our own infrastructure, Agentic Coding and many new ideas, we want to bring Advertising Technology at Axel Springer and Axel Springer Tech GmbH to the next level. I am very happy about what we achieved so far, but even more excited about what comes next. https://lnkd.in/dzPsngaF Thomas Bergemann Tobias Totz Robin Etienne Klaedtke Laura Giersberg Feras Alsamawi Eyal Knoll Stefan Christoph #AdTech #Prebid #AWS #RTBFabric #AgenticCoding #AxelSpringerHow Axel Springer transformed ad monetization by migrating from client-side bidding to AWS RTB Fabric | Amazon Web ServicesHow Axel Springer transformed ad monetization by migrating from client-side bidding to AWS RTB Fabric | Amazon Web Services

Stephanie Layser liked thisStephanie Layser liked thisTell me that you're in China without telling me you're in China: 👍👍👍 I came to this region with deep curiosity and a genuine desire to understand how the entertainment landscape here is evolving. Let me start by saying sheer pace of technical advancement here is INSANE. The ambition and sophistication of these teams, the desire to partner with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in meaningful ways, was palpable in every conversation. These companies are busy building the future of entertainment, while others continue to debate whether or not to start. Take note. In Beijing, I had the privilege of meeting with: • Kuaishou Technology – one of the world's leading short-video platforms with hundreds of millions of daily active users, redefining how content is created, distributed, and monetized at massive scale. The momentum behind Kling has been nothing short of remarkable. With the release of Kling 3.0 earlier this year, Kuaishou has positioned itself at the forefront of AI-powered video generation, delivering native 4K output, multi-shot storytelling, and synchronized audio in a single unified model. I'm excited to see this continue to progress. • iDailyBread— a forward-thinking media technology company pushing the boundaries of AI-driven content innovation and digital storytelling in China's rapidly evolving media ecosystem. • ByteDance – the global technology powerhouse behind TikTok and Douyin, whose platforms have fundamentally transformed how billions of people consume and interact with entertainment content worldwide. The work they are doing with Seedance 2.5 is incredible to witness firsthand. Generating native 30-second video clips with 50 multimodal references, local editing capabilities that preserve performances, and a beta long-video mode extending to 3 minutes, the adoption across the studio and creator space has been extraordinary. In Shenzhen (which is legit the Silicoln Valley of the East) I visited: Tencent Games – one of the world's largest and most influential gaming studios, responsible for titles enjoyed by hundreds of millions of players globally, and a true pioneer in interactive entertainment. I am a big fan of their IP (Subway Surfer, Clash of Clans) and am so excited to see how we can build on our partnership. • Stary – a fast-growing mobile entertainment company at the forefront of the micro-drama revolution, reimagining short-form storytelling for a new generation of global audiences. The work they are doing to compensate authors from the around the world and their ability to snap to diverse voices and choice is leading IMHO. I am grateful to my phenomenal AWS Greater China Region team for making this trip possible. A special thank you to Rob Chu, Ken Li Bo Wang, YueYue Xi Shad H. AngXi Shad H. Angela Mieher, and the broader local account teams for their immense hospitality.

Thank you Jon Watts and the Coalition for Innovative Media Measurement (CIMM) for allowing me the opportunity to share how the programmatic bidstream is evolving. The data is becoming clear, richer contextual signals in the bidstream, including genre and channel, aren’t just nice to have, they’re driving real CPM uplift.

Great to see Adara - A RateGain Company and my former colleagues at Comcast Advertising pair up like this. Category-specific advertising solutions like this are critical, and no reason why travel advertisers shouldn't be able to measure TV spend against actual heads-in-beds.

Read James Hercher’s latest in AdExchanger, “Alphabet Can Outgrow Everything Else, But Can It Outgrow Ads?” My immediate thought: would Judge Mehta still hang his hat on AI as meaningful competitive pressure today? In the Google antitrust ruling, Judge Mehta expressly cited increased search competition as a reason behind his chosen remedy. Today, hearing a lot of "Google has already won." And with this article, AI doesn’t look like an external disruptor so much as something being folded into the same ad-driven ecosystem. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eRw2ayCv

Audio represents 20%+ of consumer media time but under 5% of ad spend (eMarketer). For pharma brands focused on reach, frequency, and trust, this unlocks smarter investment without sacrificing accountability. "Viant Technology’s direct integration with iHeartMedia... allows both companies to match their data graphs and create shared IDs for targeting audiences in digital audio, as well as broadcast radio, where audience ID signals are scarce." Net-net: we're making hard to measure channels measurable and heping healthcare marketers better understand who they’re reaching, how often, and how audio fits into the full patient and HCP journey. Audio has always driven impact. Now, with Viant, it drives insight too. #HealthcareMarketing #PharmaMarketing #Viant #Programmatic #AddressableAdvertising #MeasurableMedia #AudioAds https://lnkd.in/ek8J-iJE
