Nicholas Moczarny liked thisNicholas Moczarny liked thisI've told my team so might as well share. Microsoft are offering a "voluntary retirement program" and I have decided to take it. I was planning on leaving within 2-3 years anyway, and this gives me more time to figure out what, if anything, is next. This year has been a whirlwind; I'm really proud of my team for blazing a trail in this new world of agentic AI. We were amongst the first to create custom agents for every part of our SDLC, building an adversarial code review tool that made the CTO of Github sit up and take notice, tools for agentic code merge, performance and architectural improvements, issue analysis, telemetry agents, and more. Our scope and velocity both grew even while the team did not. It's been exciting but also exhausting and thought-provoking. We went from "this AI stuff seems more of a PITA than anything" to barely writing any code ourselves since January, and I think the tools we built actually allowed us to drive up quality, even more than velocity. At the same time I share the real concern that AI will make us cognitively lazy and atrophy our skills. Will become so good it doesn't matter and we can roll around in our recliners like in Wall-E? I'm not sure. What I do know is I want to think about these problems in a slower and more deliberate way than the crazy pace that is happening at work. And I am also wondering - in a world in which perhaps many of us are going to be displaced from our jobs and will have to innovate to survive, what are the tools that can help us thrive? One way to figure this out is to put myself in the situation. If I am a one person software company - which may be common - how can I build a thriving business, balancing economy of AI usage, quality customer support, shipping quality software that I actually understand and can maintain, while keeping my sanity? Those are questions I am interested in exploring, and my current role isn't the best place to do so. Or maybe I'll just give up on that and take on other work, if its super-interesting. Or just go fishing and program synthesizers. We'll see! Its going to be nice to have options, at least :-) Anyway, its been a really fun ride. I have had a fantastically varied career, a good part of that thanks to Microsoft. I have worked on low-level network stacks, created one of the first Internet firewalls, invented cryptographic protocols, worked on early smartwatches, built the first local search app, built a WeChat long before WeChat (OneApp), briefly worked on robotics applications, invented large scale distributed machine learning algorithms, ran applied machine learning teams (at eBay), built tools for data scientists and developers, and lost count how many compilers and virtual machines I have implemented over the years (compilers were my early first love). I have got to work with luminaries like Guido van Rossum and Anders Hejlsberg. Much of my work has spanned R&D and product, which is a fun place to be. Feeling thankful!

Nicholas Moczarny reacted on thisNicholas Moczarny reacted on thisBittersweet, but here goes: Leaving Rippling has been hard because I truly loved my time there. The leadership, the insane growth, the friendships — I’ll always be grateful for every moment. I’ll be cheering Rippling on from afar and can’t wait to see all the amazing things ahead. That said, this next step felt meant to be. I’m incredibly excited (and very lucky) to join Harvey as a Business Recruiter. I’ll continue to focus on GTM recruiting, helping build amazing teams, and diving into the work I love. Grateful for the past, energized for what’s next.

Nicholas Moczarny liked thisNicholas Moczarny liked thisProud moment for our team. We started working on mongot back in 2018, and it’s grown into a codebase that now powers MongoDB’s text and vector search at massive scale. Over the years, it’s become one of the most significant and widely used Lucene-based engines in production, shaped by real workloads and hard engineering problems. Making the engine source-available feels like a natural next step, and we’re excited to see what the community builds with it. https://lnkd.in/gN6ZxNhcNow Source Available: The Engine Powering MongoDB SearchNow Source Available: The Engine Powering MongoDB Search

Nicholas Moczarny liked thisNicholas Moczarny liked thisHuge milestone for the Search & AI team! mongot, the engine that powers MongoDB Search and Vector Search, is now source available. We've been hard at work building the best way to run search at scale, and I'm thrilled that this work can now be seen and built upon by the community. I kicked off MongoDB .local SF last week with a talk on the design principles behind the system, along with a look under the hood at how everything fits together. Check out the talk and our announcement article below. We're hiring Engineers and PMs in SF, NYC, and Toronto, so if this work excites you, take a look at the openings below! 🎥 https://lnkd.in/gGujeNNa 📄 https://lnkd.in/gJUw-WAt 💼 Open roles: - https://lnkd.in/gxbiHiQd - https://lnkd.in/g7np7wbS - https://lnkd.in/gvKU5TQF - https://lnkd.in/gaZEwF96 - https://lnkd.in/gArKkrk6 - https://lnkd.in/gjUjbRE7

Staffing leaders: require these operational standards from any lead provider to cut wasted spend and speed placements. 1) Signal recency — real-time or daily updates so you’re not chasing cold leads. 2) Verification steps — phone or email checks to confirm availability and intent. 3) Intent match — leads mapped to hiring needs, skills, and pay bands. 4) Transparent ROI reporting — clear placement metrics, cost-per-hire, and funnel conversion. These reduce churn and boost fill rates because myScout was built by staffing experts who know where time and money leak. Gone are the days of “hire fast, scale faster.” Every executive hire must earn their seat and directly impact revenue, go-to-market success, or product delivery. With so much on the line, here’s the question founders, VCs, and HR leaders keep asking: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆? Hint: it’s not about job postings or “who’s available.” 🔗Read our latest article on how top recruiters, like Andrew Shaw, are blending AI, data, and human networks to identify leaders who move the needle. https://lnkd.in/dTurt55N

TA tech stacks have gotten out of control. Many teams are juggling recruiter notebooks, spreadsheets, CRMs, multiple sourcing tools, and an ATS - making reporting messy, slow, and inconsistent. In 2026, the TA teams that win won’t be the ones adding more tools… They’ll be the ones simplifying. ✨ Fewer platforms ✨ Cleaner data ✨ Better visibility ✨ One source of truth That’s why we built Hiregate - a comprehensive Recruiter/Candidate Tracking System that pulls together all of the data from spreadsheets, CRMs, sourcing tools, and your ATS into one streamlined platform. No more chasing down updates. No more fragmented reporting. Just clarity, speed, and a tech stack that actually works with you. If your team is buried in too many tools, it might be time to rethink the stack: 🔗 https://hubs.ly/Q03VZl5F0 What’s one tool you wish you could remove from your workflow tomorrow? 👇Drop your thoughts below #TalentAcquisition #Recruiting #HRTech #RecruitingTech #HiringTrends #PeopleOps #TalentStrategy #FutureOfWork #Hiregate
