Jennifer Kattula shared thisIt was such a treat to sit down with John Horsley for the Business of Marketing podcast in the DEPT® Secret Garden at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. I’ll never pass up a moment to share my pov that marketers now get to be builders too… and that’s creating a whole new way to do the craft we love so much. We discussed how AI is reshaping marketing, from how brands are discovered through LLMs and AI agents, to why storytelling, trust and human creativity remain more important than ever. One of my biggest takeaways is that while AI is transforming how we work, it doesn't replace judgement or craft. It gives marketers the opportunity to become builders, creating new workflows, experimenting faster and focusing more time on strategy and creativity. Thanks so much, John! Jennifer Kattula shared thisI am super humbled to have been named as a She Runs It Changing the Game Honoree in the Quantum Leap category, which really focuses on leaders who are changing the way an organization is aligned to proactively meet new challenges. If you are not familiar, for more than 100 years, She Runs It has made room for women to lead in marketing, media, and technology, and then gave them the tools to actually do it. Very few organizations can say they have done that work for a century. I have felt the effect of it in my own career, often without realizing where it started. A huge thank you to Lori Goode for encouraging the nomination, to the other incredible leaders who are recognized below and to the women and men who have paved the way. #advertising #media #awards Microsoft AdvertisingJennifer Kattula shared thisSome leaders adapt to change. Congratulations to the 2026 She Runs It Changing the Game Honorees, an extraordinary group of women whose leadership, vision, and bold thinking are redefining what's possible across marketing, media, and tech. From transforming organizations and building iconic brands to challenging convention and creating new opportunities for the next generation, these leaders aren't following the playbook. Jennifer Kattula shared thisA hackathon for your AI agents? Tell me more.... I had the pleasure of hosting a CMO roundtable at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity with Avery Akkineni and Andrew Warden at the VaynerMedia House. 🤯 All credit on the hackathon for AI agents goes to Andrew's team at Adobe. Here's a few takeaways (because we're keeping the Cannes content going all summer ☀️ ) AI is becoming the new interface between brands and consumers. Leaders agreed that AI is quickly evolving beyond an efficiency tool into the primary layer through which consumers discover, evaluate, and interact with brands. Brand visibility now extends beyond traditional media. The discussion highlighted the need for marketers to understand how their brands are represented across AI-generated responses and recommendation engines. Content operations must evolve from campaigns to systems. Participants agreed that the growing demand for personalized, always-on content is exposing the limits of traditional production models. AI is shifting the role of creative -- not replacing it. The conversation emphasized that AI is accelerating execution, but human creativity remains the differentiator. Teams are increasingly relying on AI for ideation, iteration, and production while reserving strategic thinking, cultural insight, storytelling, and brand judgment for people. Organizational readiness will determine competitive advantage. Success with AI depends less on adopting individual tools and more on redesigning how teams work. Leaders discussed the importance of breaking down organizational silos, building AI fluency across functions, establishing clear governance, and creating operating models that allow experimentation without sacrificing brand integrity. Marketing must prepare for an agent-driven future. As AI agents begin influencing purchase decisions on behalf of consumers, brands will need to rethink how products, content, and data are structured for machine interpretation as well as human engagement. The biggest shift is cultural, not technological. The discussion concluded that becoming AI-first is ultimately an organizational transformation. The companies that will lead are those that embed AI into everyday decision-making, empower teams to experiment, and create cultures that balance speed, innovation, and responsible use of the technology. What am I missing? 👇 #ai Microsoft Microsoft Advertising

Jennifer Kattula shared thisHear me out: just like companies have brands, families should have brands too. I'm not talking about a logo. I'm talking about a mission, purpose, values. A manifesto. Clarity on priorities and how you show up in the world, decided on purpose instead of by accident. My husband, Andrew McGuinness, and I started doing this before we were even married. We were dating long distance, so we wrote a one pager about the life we wanted together. He's a writer, so he wrote it. And very typical for me, I built the spreadsheet that scored which city we'd live in. That practice turned into a ritual and became our House Rules, something we revisit more than once a year. It's the identity layer to our family. I talked through the whole framework with Kristina Lowe on Tripoint Conversations, including all the learnings and the systems that failed along the way. Link in the comments. If you've ever written a vision with your partner, I want to hear how it went.

Jennifer Kattula liked thisJennifer Kattula liked thisI was scheduled to testify in the Meta trial in Oakland in early September. This morning, Meta settled. There are some genuinely good concessions by Meta but this shouldn't be the end of accountability. The states were seeking roughly $200 billion. Meta agreed to pay up to $17 billion, spread over ten years, on day seven of a trial that had five more weeks of testimony scheduled. That is about eight cents on the dollar. The stock went up. I worked with these executives. I watched them learn to conveniently ignore the research. On Tuesday, the head of Instagram testified that Take a Break, the company's showpiece answer to teen overuse, was used by 1.8% of teenagers. Meta never told the public that number. The attorneys general did what Congress has refused to do for twenty years, and I am glad they won. But a settlement puts a price on a case. It does not build accountability into a system. Read the fine print of the consent judgment when it lands. Then ask your senators why the Platform Accountability and Transparency Act and the Algorithmic Accountability Act still have not had a floor vote. And when Meta tells you it has changed, remember what changed its mind. More in our blog post below: https://lnkd.in/gNgQ9zDnMeta Paid $17 Billion to Stop a Trial. We submitted a panel for 𝗦𝗫𝗦𝗪 2027 built around a pretty fundamental question: Why has “healthcare” focused on the 15 minutes you spend with your doctor, while largely ignoring the other 525,585 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲? Jennifer Kattula liked thisJennifer Kattula liked thisChapter next. See you tomorrow. You will notice a change in my title today. After 13 extraordinary years as an EY Partner, this chapter has come to a close, in line with the EY Partner retirement policy. However, I’ll see many of you tomorrow. I am delighted to have been asked to continue as a strategic advisor to EY supporting key priorities, advising the team and shaping a smooth succession. I am proud of many facets to the brand transformation, which played a defining role in one of the most significant brand transformations in professional services. More than any single campaign or transformation, what stands out most is the people I’ve had the privilege to work with. When I arrived at EY, I had no idea how many extraordinary people I was about to meet and team with. If I could thank all at EY individually, I would. It feels right to go back to the beginning and thank Barbara Davies and Mark Weinberger and the other partners back then for hiring me, as they were rolling out Building A Better Working World - EY was way ahead on being purpose driven. I am deeply grateful to the three outstanding Global Chairs and CEOs I served under Mark Weinberger, Carmine Di Sibio and Janet Truncale and the great people they had and have around them. EY’s deep and diverse bench of talent never ceases to inspire. I am especially grateful to colleagues, collaborators and agencies who have been central to it from the start to now including Sian Brigg, Jennifer Cole Yvonne Diaz, Andres Saenz, Amanda Whitlock, Andy Baldwin, Rachel Redmond, Toni Clayton-Hine, Karen Hopkins Kate Mackie, Marta Koczan, PMP , Victoria Pollard, Pia Pirozzi Renny Popoola Michael Curtis Matthew Reames to name a very few. (Sadly can't share the EY directory of all!!) And to Brandpie Freuds Group, Ogilvy WPP Media Graham Fink and Rankin R.and Rankin R. thanks for the AI me in the picture! You are only as ever as good as the talent around you - grateful to all of you - its a long list! The great news, these EY conversations will continue. Over the coming year, I will remain focused on driving the EY brand and supporting the team. In parallel, I begin shaping what's next for me... So, a farewell to being an EY Partner. But it is not goodbye to EY, or to continuing to help build one of the world’s most distinctive brands, now supercharged with EY.ai, the reimagination engine, which is just rolling out (picture of some of the amazing team behind it above). When we first launched the #BetterQuestions platform, the first one we ever launched was 'What legacy will you create?' Well, perhaps now the question is: What will you shape next? See you tomorrow. #buildingbetterworkingworld #shapethefuturewithconfidence #betterquestions #betterprompts #TogetherAllin

Jennifer Kattula liked thisJennifer Kattula liked thisI'm a big believer in karma. And when I discover something magical, I'm inclined to tell everyone about it. Here, I plug something that is not affiliated with Coul & Gold, but is one of the best workplace books I've read this year. You can pre-order Julia C. Carreon and Shannon Nutter's fabulous book, "Walking on Broken Glass," here: https://lnkd.in/dXpu6bFa. It's a must-read for women who are Chiefs of Staff because, let's face it, speaking truth to power is a hazard of the job. And it turns out that there's a correlation between women who are wired to be a chief of staff, and women who are often pushed out of jobs. It's a pattern -- and a disturbing one, to boot. This couldn't be a more important book at a more important time.

Jennifer Kattula liked thisJennifer Kattula liked thisI'm so freakin' excited that my copy of #pigeonmag arrived today, courtesy of the ridiculously talented and industrious Chris Wojcicki. In a time when AI platforms are literally stealing and destroying books and genuine human craft feels devalued, Pigeon is a standout creation. First thing you'll notice is this thing isn't cheaply made. It's stout, hefty, and made with a premium quality that's getting rarer and harder to find. Next, this thing is absolutely overflowing with creativity. Photography, illustrations, stories, art projects... And when I say "overflowing," I mean stuff is literally falling out of it. The pullout art, the 3D art puzzle, the coloring page, the manila envelope with mysterious contents I have yet to even open. Chris has put together an incredible labor of love here, and if you love creativity, you need to get this book while you can. This belongs on the coffee table of every creative person or just anybody who celebrates creativity. Chris is without question one of the most genuinely creative people I've ever been lucky enough to know. And even if I hadn't been involved in this issue, I'd be pushing this project like the beautiful, chaotic, and utterly fascinating work that it is. GET THIS BOOK. http://thepigeonmag.com It'll make everything else you read feel boring by comparison. Kenya Bravo #creative #creativity #thepigeonmag #books #print #photography #illustration #AI

Standing there, I was in awe of the history and the privilege of being part of it. That sense of privilege is one I feel just as often in the CMO community. I say it often but it's worth repeating: I love being part of this group. We get to be excited together, debate hard topics, share empathy, trade measurement woes and AI hacks. Some of the most meaningful connections I've made have come through Forbes' CMO community. Thank you to Linda Boff and Sherry Phillips for cultivating something this special. Ringing the bell alongside Forbes' World's Most Influential CMOs and the incredible Forbes team is a reminder of how lucky I am to be recognized and embraced by this community. Thank you to the team at Supergoop! for building a brand and products that make this job so much fun.

Jennifer Kattula liked thisJennifer Kattula liked thisToday we’re taking Ad Council's youth firearm injury prevention campaign, #AgreetoAgree, somewhere we haven’t gone before: into gaming. 🎮 We developed a new animated video PSA with Sawhorse Productions using Unreal Engine, with AI-generated voiceover created using ElevenLabs, to create something that feels native to gaming audiences rather than simply adapting a traditional PSA. We also partnered with mobile gaming partner Admazing Co. to develop an interactive playable ad, with media distribution supporting both the video and playable assets over the next two months. Additional donated media from Basket Entertainment, Chartis, Aquatica Studios, Skylight Media and Bent Pixels will help extend the campaign across gaming environments and social platforms where our audience is already spending time. I’m really proud of how this came together across creative, technology and media - and especially grateful to the people who helped bring it to life: 🔹 A huge thank you to Nic Hill 🔜 RDC, Chris Rash and the entire Sawhorse Productions team for their passion for this issue, creativity in finding the right way to bring the campaign into gaming environments, and incredible partnership from idea through execution. Nic Hill 🔜 RDC also serves on Ad Council's Leadership Council and Emerging Media & Technology Committee, and his commitment to using gaming for social impact was a real catalyst for this collaboration. 🔹 And a major shoutout to Jennifer Ball and the Admazing Co. team for going above and beyond - not only committing media to the campaign, but also bringing their expertise to the development of an entirely new playable asset. 🎥 Watch the new PSA below. For as long as I can remember, B2B has separated "strategists" from "doers." We’ve worked under a false hierarchy where the strategist deserved all the glory while the people building, breaking, and fixing things were sidelined, or worse, viewed as "less than." I’m glad to see this outdated system finally being put in reverse. Check out the article by John Winsor for Harvard Business Review, "Has AI Ended Thought Leadership?" It highlights a big shift: in a world where anyone can generate a "strategic" framework in seconds, the gap between a faux thought leader and an authentic one is becoming a canyon. If you had to choose a brilliant strategist who hasn't touched the tools in years, or a doer who knows how to fix it when it breaks? I know where I stand. https://lnkd.in/gwDWH-ak

Have you considered how you can build a digital footprint strong enough to earn and sustain a Google Knowledge Panel that reinforces human and AI trust? Search is evolving rapidly, and with generative AI surfacing answers before users click a link, visibility is no longer guaranteed by rankings alone. For law firms and lawyers in particular, credibility now depends on distributed authority where knowledge panels play a critical role. Our internal experts Jennifer Simpson Carr and Leslie Richards tackle this subject in the latest episode of our On Record PR Podcast. https://lnkd.in/ehmyZ3qB
