At the end of 2024, Northwood was ~15 people working out of a glorified garage, fresh off our first-ever phased array test in North Dakota. We were exhausted, excited, and trying to figure out how to turn real technical progress and early customer pull into something that could actually scale. As we wrap 2025 and look ahead to 2026, the picture looks vastly different, though many of the emotions feel familiar.
We’re now 60+ people and approaching capacity in our 35,000 sq ft manufacturing facility. We’ve built the world’s most powerful phased array SATCOM antenna, with hardware actively being deployed as far away as Australia. What started as a small, scrappy team running on Celsius and nicotine has grown into an organization executing across manufacturing, field deployments, multiple product lines, and serious customers (we’ve since upgraded to Yerba Mate, Uncrustables, and slightly less nicotine). The team’s progress was recognized with a $30M Series A earlier this year and continued partnership from some of the world’s most important institutions, with more to share on the customer, technical, and funding fronts soon.
A lot of 2025 was about growing up without slowing down: turning velocity into throughput, prototypes into production, and ambition into systems that actually work in the real world. Looking ahead to 2026, expect more deployments, more products, more customers supported, and more mission areas served. The scope of what customers are asking us to take on has changed meaningfully over the past year. The work in front of us is less about proving what’s possible and more about executing at a level that very few teams ever reach.
