Skybound CEO David Alpert (DA) and co-chairman Jon Goldman took the stage with Dean Takahashi at GamesBeat Engage to discuss the evolving role of IP in games and the wider entertainment industry. Many companies are rethinking how IP is built, moving beyond single-format development to creating flexible worlds that are meant to expand across platforms. It's something we've been doing since the beginning, with franchises like The Walking Dead and Invincible. DA and Jon explored how successful adaptations drive renewed interest and revenue back to original content, deepen fan trust and engagement and build IP that can last a lifetime. The ones who win are the companies like Skybound that build ecosystems where stories, communities and experiences reinforce each other. Ahead of our Invincible VS launch, Skybound CEO David Alpert (DA) and co-chairman Jon Goldman joined Christopher Dring on The Game Business, to talk about our evolving games strategy and why we're doubling down on making our own with in-house studios like Quarter Up. While we're still a proud indie publisher, we're also looking forward to a future of building more games based on Skybound IP. It's another way for us to empower creators and help them scale the worlds they've built, while bringing fans closer to the stories they love. As DA puts it: “When we’ve succeeded, it’s because we’ve embraced what’s core to the brand. The Walking Dead game from Telltale is a perfect example of that. We set out to make a zombie story that makes you cry. A lot of people wanted to come in and make a twitch shooter. And that’s not true to the brand.” For Invincible VS, we found a talented technical team that understood the fighting game genre intimately and had massive love for the IP, in the people who formed Quarter Up. Then we integrated them with our other in-house teams including comics and animation, to build a game that fit seamlessly into the Invincible universe. That approach is already resonating, with more than 1M players to-date! Watch the full conversation to learn more about how we're thinking about our games business in 2026 and beyond. #Skybound #Invincible #InvincibleVS #TheWalkingDead #videgames

We believe every interaction with fans is important. Whether they find an IP through comics, TV/movies, video games, merchandising or any other medium, we want it to be a great experience. That's why we focus on how a world will scale from Day 1. Skybound Entertainment CEO David Alpert (DA), co-chairman Jon Goldman and SVP, Publisher Sean Mackiewicz take the stage at the Entertainment Software Association's iicon event at 4pm today to talk about our approach to building ecosystems around IP as a foundation for brands that last a lifetime. IPs like The Walking Dead and Invincible are proof that when you keep creators at the center of everything you do, expanding a franchise across mediums is more successful, and more meaningful. #iicon2026 #Skybound #comics #videogames #IP #franchises #Invincible #TheWalkingDead
