Earlier this year, along with peers from across the technical training industry, I was asked to participate in CloudShare's eBook "Well CEd", contributing my thoughts & insights on the customer education market. One question asked was "What best practices can you to share for making learning memorable & improving adoption?", to which I responded; * Firstly, understand your audience. What are their skill levels & pain points & apply practical & meaningful use cases * Make sure clear goals & metrics are set i.e. what is the objective of the learning & how will you know if it has been achieved or not * Training has to include micro/ bite sized learning to reduce information overload & enable individuals to learn at their own pace, around their work commitments * Learning must include hands-on practice that reflect real life. Approaches such as quizzes & capstone projects, ideally with rewards and recognition, such as 'Badges' that are visible to peers & managers * There has to be continuous & ongoing support. Learning should not be a single event at a point in time. On demand resources, such as FAQs, tutorials, support guides etc, plus follow-up sessions & feedback opportunities should be applied The invaluable guide, exploring the impact of AI on customer education, the critical learning metrics that should be applied, current trends, opportunities & challenges CEd teams face in 2026, & much more, can be downloaded via the link in the comments. Shout out to all my fellow contributors, all industry experts within the customer education field, Roberto Aiello Dan Braithwaite Samantha Murray Steven Carr Dave Derington Shannon Howard Vicky Kennedy Dror Kroparo Kristine Kukich Debbie Smith Lynn Marie Viduya Heather Wendt #customereducation #learninganddevelopment #certification #CEdMAEnterprise #CEdMA #customersuccess #customersatisfaction #skilldevelopment #customertraining #AI #learningmetrics

  • Day one of CEdMA EmpowerED was packed with insightful sessions and conversations, many of which shared a common theme: challenging assumptions. A few highlights: Julie Dirksen: “Attention spans aren’t shrinking, they’re hopelessly divided.” Customers have endless responsibilities and limited time; training must solve a problem and offer tangible results. Kevin Dunn, PMP®: “AI isn’t replacing Customer Education, it’s raising the bar for it.” As agentic AI capabilities evolve, teams have an opportunity to identify impactful use cases for both AI output and task completion. Melissa VanPelt: “Product adoption is the strongest indicator of renewal and expansion.” Behavior change directly drives the outcomes executives use to measure ROI. We’re excited to continue learning how CEd professionals are implementing AI, changing customer behavior, and proving the impact of training.

  • What’s the first, tactical step to encouraging AI experimentation? In our recent webinar, Ido Nivron asked Synthesia’s Kevin Alster what his process looks like. His answer is straightforward: Calendar blocking. “I don’t believe that you could learn to apply and use these tools if you don’t have the time.” When your team regularly sets aside to time to research and gain hands on experience with AI, it becomes a part of your workflows. That’s how your organization can make real progress toward its long-term AI goals. Watch the full webinar recording here —> https://lnkd.in/d3iQSrSD And stay tuned for the next session in our CEd AI 101 series!
