The Witcher 4 Release Window Confirmed, Gamescom Songs of the Past Showcase Announced

Four years after first revealing the game, CD Projekt Red has finally announced a release date for The Witcher 4: 2028. The news comes from joint CEO Michał Nowakowski via Twitter, alongside an invitation to a Witcher 3: Songs of the Past showcase taking place tomorrow - as part of Opening Night Live at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

The CDPR announcement is two minutes in length, with Nowakowski promising a prominent presence in hall eight at the trade show, which opens for journalists and trade visitors from Wednesday and is open to the public from Thursday onwards.

The physical presence at Gamescom and the livestream appearance will be focused around the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion for The Witcher 3, including details on its story and "content". The expansion was previously announced to arrive sometime in 2027.

The Witcher 4 update is that the Ciri-centred game currently has a developer count of over 500, with a "huge and immersive open world, intense and action-packed gameplay, and a deep impactful story", according to Nowakowski. It sounds like there won't be any further information on the game at the show, but you never know.
