Gameplay | Sea of Remnants Wiki

From Sea of Remnants Wiki

The Gameplay of Sea of Remnants is mostly based on two main features: Exploring and Combat. The world of Sea of Remnants is mostly sea with several islands that you can explore to find resources and treasures but that are also inhabited by beasts and monsters that won’t think twice before attacking you. The Combat of Sea of Remnants makes the game a dynamic, frantic turn-based RPG that combines the standard RPG mechanics (teammates, different builds, talents, and stat progression) with fresh mechanics (dice rolls and dynamic turns for each combat).

This page shows each essential feature present in Sea of Remnants.

The Story

Sigmunds Welcome
Sigmunds Welcome

Sea of Remnants takes place in a world where the sea is the protagonist. Your character, which you can name and customize as you wish, appears in the laboratory of a doctor and scientist. Your character has lost its memory and doesn’t remember its name, origin, or how it landed there.

The scientist, named Sigmund, tells your character that the sea brought you to Orbtopia, which isn’t weird, and also tells your character that the stranded’s memories get flushed on the water.

Sea of Remnants uses this plot to kickstart a lore full of eccentric, fun characters, beautiful scenery, and plenty of humor mixed with giant monsters and dangerous enemies.

Exploration

The Map
The Map

You’ll spend most of your time on Sea of Remnants exploring the vast sea and discovering new islands and places. Each zone you’ll find in this game is carefully polished and full of secrets, inviting players to keep their eyes wide open not to miss anything.

Sea of Remnants pushes the exploration further thanks to a well-detailed map and by setting plenty of treasures and rare loot on each island, no matter if said island is giant or small. You can use the Recon mechanic to aid you in exploration.

There are campsites where you can rest and heal your teammates if things get complicated, and there’s even a system named Treasure Shipping that allows you to send all your loot to Orbtopia because, if you get defeated while exploring islands, you’ll lose everything you’ve found since you sailed.

Sea of Remnants also offers action while in the sea, as you can be the captain of your own ship. The sea itself also has secrets to be discovered, and there are enemies that can attack you while you navigate.

Combat

As previously stated, the combat on Sea of Remnants combines classic turn-based RPG gameplay with special features that spice up combat and make each battle different. The most prominent feature is the Enhancement Dice, which allows you to buff your characters’ abilities depending on the draw. Of course, higher numbers mean bigger buffs.

While engaged in turn-based combat, each turn can rapidly change thanks to both your and your enemies’ abilities; everyone has the chance to affect the turns and steal the next move, making it dynamic.

Not every single encounter is a turn-based event. Some of the animals that roam about the world can be killed with single attacks without the need to enter a turn-based combat.

There’s a lot more information about the combat on Sea of Remnants. Check the Combat page to learn more about it.

Your character will grow as you advance in Sea of Remnants. Exploring and winning battles provide you with Materials that you can later use to train your characters’ Brains and Limbs. Training the Brain will provide you with improved combat stats, using the game’s currency to pay for it. But you can’t only train the Brain; some of these improvements have to be accompanied by limb training.
