I know why they keep releasing new editions; its the only way to really make money. I find that both understandable and deeply sad. But it's been part of D&D since it started. It's 3.5 for me forever; back when orcs were unashamedly evil, no one cared what your character's sexuality was, and grappling was....OK, quite a mess. Play whatever you want. Let 'em keep making new editions. No one can take my preferred edition from me.

I remember one of my funnest D&D game sessions was using 2E. We somehow ended up in a Lower Plane & to escape we had to defeat a group of demons in a volleyball game. No rules used. Just a creative DM who did whatever the heck he wanted. We had a blast.
