First-Ever LEGO Pokémon Sets Officially Revealed, RIP Our Wallets

There are some collaborations that feel like no-brainers. It took forever for Nintendo and LEGO to link up, so to speak, but after 30 years, Pokémon is finally getting a turn.

Over on the LEGO website, the company gave us our first look at the upcoming Pokémon x LEGO collaboration, and old-school fans will be happy, but there is a catch.

The Kanto Badges Are A Nice Touch

The firstPokémonLEGO sets have been officially confirmed:

• Kanto Starter Evolutions (Blastoise, Venosaur, Charizard) - $649.99 USD
• Pikachu & Poke Ball - $199.99 USD
• Eeevee - $59.99 USD
• Kanto Region Badge Collection (free with purchase of the Kanto Starter SKU)
• Mini Pokémon Center (only available to LEGO Insiders for 2500 Points)

The Pikachu set is 2050 pieces, and features Pikachu leaping forwards out of a Poke Ball, with a current running from the ball to Pikachu. It's a nice action shot, and the lightning bolt below Pikachu itself is a great touch. Eevee, another honorary main mascot, is 587 pieces. The Kanto Starter Evolution set, on the other hand, is massive, clocking in at 6838 pieces.

Out of all of these, the Kanto Region Badge Collection set caught my eye. It's 312 pieces, so it's much easier to construct, and features all eight original Generation 1 Kanto Region badges in a little box. The box appears to be fully functional and can close and open with the badges inside.

Strangely, the Mini Pokémon Center is only available to LEGO Insiders and costs 2500 Points. It clocks in at 233 pieces. All of these sets are set to ship on February 27, 2026.

There are other collaborations in the works as well, including a TCG celebration and partnerships with Adidas, McDonald's, and UNIQLO. "More collaborations and reveals" are also coming this year. Even if the game announcements don't hit, Pokémon merch fans will be eating well in 2026.

It's A Decent Opener

As we rocket into the 30th anniversary of the series, the first generation of Pokémon is on everyone's mind. They've been remade twice already in the form of FireRed/LeafGreen and Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, but given how well the original generation sold in comparison to other games in the series, it's no wonder that The Pokémon Company is continually going back to that well.

Debuting their LEGO collaboration with one of the biggest gaming icons on the planet, and a nostalgia-fueled trip through Kanto, is a perfect plan. Expect to see more collaborations in the future, especially given that LEGO and The Pokémon Company alike can slowly drop these sets as they move through generations.

Pokémon is an interesting property because of how much nostalgia and history are entwined with it. For any given game release (or collaboration), you might see characters that are brand-new or are decades-old. It's one of the key ingredients for the franchise's secret sauce.
