Seth MacFarlane's production company is developing the new sci-fi fantasy series Dungeon Crawler Carl, which Peacock just picked up.
The actor and filmmaker has produced several shows over the years, including Family Guy, American Dad!, The Cleveland Show, The Orville, Ted and The 'Burbs. He created his production company, Fuzzy Door Productions, in 1998, just before Family Guy premiered on Fox.
Now he's lined up his next series. Peacock announced a series order for Dungeon Crawler Carl, a sci-fi fantasy show based on Matt Dinniman's bestselling book series, according to Variety. MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald will executive produce through Fuzzy Door. The project has been in development since 2024. No cast members have been announced yet.
The Mandalorian's Chris Yost, who has worked on several Marvel movies and shows like Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, is also an executive producer, as well as a writer.
Dungeon Crawler Carl revolves around an alien invasion that's taken out most of the civilization on Earth. The remaining survivors are required to participate in an intergalactic game show called Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, hosted by a talking cat. The titular Carl, a Coast Guard veteran, fights off monsters, aliens, artificial intelligence, and his fellow humans on what's supposed to be an entertaining TV show, though survival is not guaranteed.
The author, who has signed on as a co-executive producer, took to Instagram to express excitement over the news. Dinniman said he'll reveal more information in the coming weeks and thanked fans "for helping make this happen." He and Yost are hosting a Dungeon Crawler Carl panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place from July 23 to 26 at the San Diego Convention Center in California.

So far, Dinniman has released eight books in the series, including Dungeon Crawler Carl, Carl's Doomsday Scenario, The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook, The Gate of the Feral Gods, The Butcher's Masquerade, The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, and This Inevitable Ruin.
The most recent installment, released May 12, is titled A Parade of Horribles. There are expected to be 10 books in total. Aside from Dungeon Crawler Carl, Dinniman has also published The Shivered Sky trilogy, the Dominion of Blades series, and Operation Bounce House.
In the past few years, MacFarlane has worked on a TV prequel to his hit film Ted, which released its second season in March; a new Naked Gun movie with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson; and the Peacock dramedy The 'Burbs, a small-screen version of the Tom Hanks film with Keke Palmer that has already been renewed for season 2.
Now the multi-hyphenate talent's newest project, Dungeon Crawler Carl, has a series order at Peacock.
