Titled JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Lonesome Tim – Lasso, Bullets, and Hexed Maiden, according to ComicBook, the spin-off dives deeper into the cross-country race’s world. Set alongside the main storyline featuring Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli, the novel shifts focus to a lesser-known competitor, offering fresh perspectives and entirely new Stand abilities.
A New Story Expands Steel Ball Run’s Universe
Unlike previous adaptations directly overseen by Hirohiko Araki, this spin-off is written by Kira Tsukinami, marking a rare external expansion of the JoJo lore. The story follows Mountain Tim, a 16-year-old racer who exits the Steel Ball Run early, opening the door to a more personal, character-driven narrative.
The first half of the novel, released in early 2026, introduces a cast of original characters with distinct motivations. Among them is Standing Little Bear, an 11- to 12-year-old girl and the sole survivor of the Sand Readers tribe. Little Bear’s unnamed Stand is one of the most visually destructive abilities introduced in years. With control over sand and desert terrain, she can summon massive sandstorms and avalanches, effectively turning entire battlefields into shifting hazards. The ability’s scale rivals some of the franchise’s most powerful environmental Stands.

The novel also introduces Reed Whipman, a ruthless outlaw responsible for multiple bank robberies and over 20 murders. His Stand, Sea of Heart Break, is a sentient monkey-like entity that manipulates the “priority” of actions. In combat, this ensures Reed always strikes first, even physically restraining opponents attempting simultaneous attacks.
Another standout is Branding I. Peterson, whose Stand, Lazy Write-Down P, reflects a disturbing obsession with ownership. Using a branding iron, he marks targets with a glowing “P” symbol, effectively claiming them as property. Any damage to marked individuals triggers automatic retaliation, making the Stand both psychological and strategic in combat.
These abilities highlight why Steel Ball Run remains one of JoJo’s most celebrated parts. Rather than relying on raw power alone, the Stands emphasize unique rules and tactical depth.
