Final Fantasy 7 Revelation premiered a brand-new trailer during Gamescom this year. While the highly-anticipated RPG was given an "Spring 2027" release window at the time of its initial reveal a few months back during Summer Game Fest, we thankfully now have more details regarding its upcoming release date. And as a nice bonus, we also get an incredible new trailer to keep watching over the next 6 months.

As revealed during the Gamescom 2026 livestream, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is still set to release in Spring 2027. Sadly, no release date was given, but it's good to know the game isn't delayed or being pushed back. Hopefully, that also means a release date will be announced at a future event, perhaps during The Game Awards in December.

Tifa in combat in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

This will be the finale of the current FF7 Remake trilogy, bringing to a close the sprawling adventure of Cloud and company that's kept fans engaged since the first entry debuted in 2020 on the PS4. The trilogy has thrown a number of surprises at fans who fondly remember the 1997 original game, and judging from the new FF7 Revelation trailer, there are quite a few surprises still in store.

The biggest focus of the new trailer was on Weapons, the legendary protectors of the planet. We also get some cool tidbits on the war with Wutai, and what Shinra is up to. Other than that, we see the crew parachuting around, participating in what's basically a kaiju fight around skyscrapers, and hints of the mini-games to come.

The original reveal of FF7 Revelation was met with a lot of hype. For many of us, we've been waiting through most of the 2020s to see how the trilogy will end. Square Enix has done plenty to reassure fans the game will be great, including the return of the Queen's Blood mini-game that was so popular in FF7 Rebirth.

With a lot of hanging questions surrounding the game's plot, and a number of narrative changes expected, it feels like just about anything is on the table. Sadly, we still have to question the release date, but it's at least officially been confirmed at Gamescom that Final Fantasy 7 Revealtion will still launch on in Spring 2027.
