If you're playing Battlefield 6 for vehicle combat, you'll be spending a lot of time with the Engineer class. It starts out with the Anti-Armor Training Path, which is pretty self-explanatory. You won't unlock a new Training Path until after you've reached level 20, so you want to build your loadout around the Anti-Armor Training Path early on.

With Battlefield 6's release so fresh, this guide focuses on items you'll have unlocked at lower levels. Coordinated vehicular combat can be the deciding factor in a BF6 match, and the effectiveness of Engineers is crucial for such strategies.

Engineer Class Anti-Armor Training Path Explained

General Tips

Accumulating score while playing the Anti-Armor Training Path will give you the following buffs, in order:

  • Extra Rockets – Increases the number of rockets carried by two.
  • Launcher Proficiency – 15% faster reload times for launchers.
  • Devastating Impact – Damaging enemy vehicles reduces their repair effectiveness by 50% for 10 seconds.
  • Thermal Overdrive (Active Ability) – Repair Tool fixes with +50% efficiency for 10 seconds.

Use active abilities by pressing R1+L1 (PS5), RB+LB (Xbox), or Q/mouse wheel (PC).

The Training Path name makes your role clear: focus on taking out enemy vehicles. In general, however, don't go running off on your own after an enemy tank. If you're not piloting your own vehicle or occupying a gunner seat, you'll still want to ride in friendly vehicles or stick close to them on foot.

Your rockets can be the deciding factor in a tank duel, but your Repair Tool is also incredibly potent. You can rack up a lot of points by repairing, and keeping a tank or helicopter in the fight can be a huge drain on enemy resources. Playing the Anti-Armor Training Path well takes a lot of patience – you're in it for the long haul, hoping to win the various battles of vehicular attrition that will crop up throughout a match.

Best Engineer Class Loadout For Low-Level Anti-Armor Training Path

Considering the weapon and gadget options available a lower levels, here are the best options to pair with the Engineer class's Anti-Armor Training Path:

  • Primary – PW7A2
  • Secondary – P18
  • Gadget 1 – RPG-7V2
  • Gadget 2 – Anti-Vehicle Mine
  • Throwable – Anti-Vehicle Grenade
  • Melee – Sledgehammer

The PW7A2 is definitely the best SMG you'll have early on – it shoots fast, has great bullet velocity, and is easy to control – but it's the third on you unlock. Before you get the PW7A2, I recommend using the M4A1, a carbine, instead. The PW5A3 is okay, but if you start out using the M4A1, you'll have more attachments to mix-and-match until you unlock the PW7A2. The M4A1 may also be more reliable at distance on BF6's larger maps.

Which launcher to take can be something of a toss-up, and you may end up hot-swapping depending on the situation, but the RPG is your best bet simply because of its versatility. The MBT-LAW is only effective against ground vehicles, and the SLM-93A can only lock onto air vehicles, but the RPG lets you deal with both, albeit requiring a bit more skill to use since it has no lock-on capability.

You're only left with one option at low levels for your second gadget: the AV Mine. They aren't flashy, but AV Mines are incredibly useful in Battlefield 6. The important thing to remember is that the AV Mines persist between lives as long as you're playing the Engineer class, so if you place some in a good spot, don't worry about resetting them every time.

They require some space from other mines, but you'll want to group them almost as close as you can, since it usually takes more than one to destroy a tank. I've been seeing good returns by placing them on roads or at intersections near objectives. It takes some patience, but it's very satisfying to get a triple kill out of nowhere a few minutes later when a tank finally rolls over your trap.

The AV Grenade is an Engineer-class exclusive, and plays right into the Anti-Armor Training Path's role. They are a bit tricky to use – you throw them just over your target, since they stop their trajectory with a parachute and drop straight down. They're great, however, for taking out the last bit of health an enemy tank has in Battlefield 6 once you've expended all your rockets.
