At its core, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game about routines and daily life, allowing players to immerse themselves in island living by logging in each day as the game passes in real time. With the amount of freedom Animal Crossing gives players to live their island life however they want, it can be difficult to keep track of everything that can be done for island upkeep.
As the days go by, the island will change depending on how much players interact with it, and these changes can affect the island’s rating. Weeds will grow, tree branches will fall, and fossils will appear, and without daily upkeep, the island’s rating will drop. In addition, if players neglect their Animal Crossing villagers and don’t speak with them for several days, there’s a chance they may want to pack up and leave the island.
Complete Resort DIY Requests For Hotel Tickets
With the addition of update 3.0 to ACNH, we now have a request board for DIYs to make and hand off to Kapp'n to sell off the island. Doing these DIYs will give you Hotel Tickets, which are necessary for buying the new item sets that Grams sells. If you're trying to collect all the new items, this gets very expensive. Especially with the Nintendo consoles once Grams' Special catalog is unlocked!
Check Grams Stock In The Hotel
Speaking of Grams, even if you don't feel like you have many Hotel Tickets, it's always a good idea to check what she has for sale in the spaces next to her in the Hotel. While you can always order from her catalog, these physical items that she sets up can be purchased immediately, and are much cheaper than ordering through the catalog.
Check The Mailbox At The Start Of Each Day In Animal Crossing
Players will start each day at their house when they log into Animal Crossing, and the first thing they’ll notice is whether there’s mail in the mailbox. If any unopened letters or packages are inside, the mailbox flag will raise and flash, and a chime will play to let players know that they should check the mail.
Not only will players find any Nook Shopping or Redd’s Treasure Trawler deliveries inside, but villagers and friends can send letters or gifts as well. The mailbox holds up to 300 letters, but it’s a good idea to check it each day to claim any items inside.
Talk To Neighbors In Animal Crossing
As a social simulation game, Animal Crossing focuses a lot on interactions with the game’s many villagers, and players should be sure to talk to all of their neighbors every day. Players can build friendships with their neighbors by chatting with them and giving them gifts, but neglected villagers are at risk of moving away from the island.
Find Animal Crossing's Visiting Vendors And Special NPCs
In addition to villagers, ACNH players will also meet several special characters on their island, including vendors as well as NPCs who will reward players for completing various tasks. Special characters like Flick, CJ, Wisp, Gulliver, and more will appear on the island at random, giving players an opportunity to get unique items when they come around.
Typically, only one of these special friends will appear each day, so once you find one of them, you're probably good. If you have not yet been introduced to update 3.0's Reset Service, you may also see Resetti strolling around, waiting to talk to you.
Check The Nook Stop Terminal Every Day In Animal Crossing
Players can earn bonus Nook Miles each day simply by visiting the Nook Stop terminal in Animal Crossing’s Resident Services building. The amount of Nook Miles they’ll receive increases for each consecutive day that they stop at the terminal, ranging from 50 on the first day to 300 by the seventh.
Additionally, there are new items available in the Nook Shopping and Nook Miles catalogs every day, including new DIY recipes and K.K. Slider songs for players to collect.
Get Bells From Animal Crossing's Money Tree And Money Rock
Earning Bells is one of the more important tasks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and players can easily get around 40,000 Bells per day by doing two simple daily tasks on the island. Every day, players can dig up a bag of 1,000 Bells, which is indicated by a golden light shining up out of the ground. By planting 1,000 or 10,000 Bells in the glowing hole left behind, players can grow a Money Tree that will triple the amount of Bells planted when it fully matures.
Additionally, one of the 6 rocks on the island will be a Money Rock each day, allowing players to earn up to 16,000 Bells by hitting it 8 times in a row. However, players must be quick in order to get all the Bells out of it.
Gather Resources In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
In order to complete DIY projects and make new items to decorate their islands, Animal Crossing players will have to gather resources from the island’s rocks, trees, and beaches. By hitting the island’s 6 rocks, players can gather stones, clay, and iron, and chopping trees will grant them wood, hardwood, and softwood.
It’s a good idea to gather at least a few of each type of resource daily to replenish your supply and save time when crafting. Just beware of your tools' durability.
Dig For Fossils Every Day In Animal Crossing
Each day, new fossils will spawn on players’ islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These ancient relics can be dug up from star-shaped holes that appear on the ground, and while they can be used for various DIY projects, players can also take them to the Museum to be evaluated by Blathers.
Donating assessed fossils to the Museum will allow players to work towards completing this wing, but fossils can also be sold to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny. Fossils sell for quite a lot, and while the amount players can earn per day by selling them varies, it’s worth finding all of them to make money and keep the island looking tidy.
Water Flowers And Crops Daily In Animal Crossing
Players with a green thumb can grow beautiful gardens full of flowers in Animal Crossing, and, as of the 2.0 update, they can also plant impressive farms with the new crops available in the game. Flowers are one of the more complex aspects of Animal Crossing and can be bred to create new hybrids with new colors. Players will have to water their flowers in order to get these new flowers to bloom, though they don’t necessarily need to be watered every day to survive.
Crops, on the other hand, don’t have any hybrid forms, but watering them every day will increase their yield, granting players up to 3 crops from each plant. Players who cook frequently should be sure to tend to their farms each day in order to get more resources. Like flowers, however, players won’t have to worry about watering their crops on days that it rains or snows.
