Iron Ore is a valuable early game item that is used primarily to create Iron Bars, one of the most versatile crafting materials for early farmers.
How to acquire Iron Ore
Iron ore is primarily mined from Iron nodes in the mines (mostly level 41+) with a pickaxe. This usually produces 1-3 Iron ore per node.
It can also be acquired from various other sources, as below;
-
Clint
(the Blacksmith) sells them for 150g each. This price increased from Year 2 onward to 250g.
-
Iron nodes can also spawn in the Quarry, the Quarry mine, or in the Hilltop/Four Corners Farms.
- They can also be found in the Skull Cavern and Volcano Dungeon.
- Ore can be found in the mines by breaking barrels and crates, and tilling soil.
- Metal Heads, Stone Golems and Iron Slimes will drop Iron ore at random.
-
Iron ore can be found in
Geodes
, Fishing Treasure chests, by Panning, and by checking Garbage Cans in town.
- Trash can be recycled into Iron Ore.
- The Traveling Cart occasionally sells Iron ore for 100 - 1,000g.
-
An
Ice Pip
Pond may produce 5x Iron ore when the population hits 3.
- Clint will sell Iron ore at the Desert Festival for 4x Calico Egg each.
