A major step forward for Europe’s future in navigation 🛰️ German Orbital Systems GmbH is proud to contribute to the launch of the first two Celeste demonstration satellites (IOD-1 and IOD-2), marking an important milestone in Europe’s transition toward next-generation positioning, navigation and timing services in Low Earth Orbit. Launched aboard Rocket Lab’s Electron and deployed by Exolaunch, these first in-orbit demonstrators represent the beginning of the Celeste demonstration mission of the European Space Agency - ESA, a strategic European initiative to implement Low Earth Orbit-Precise Navigation Timing services. In collaboration with Thales Alenia Space and GMV, this mission aims to validate critical technologies, investigate advanced signal concepts and frequency domains, and support the development of a resilient and sovereign European PNT capability in Low Earth Orbit. At German Orbital Systems, we are proud to support this effort with our 16U satellite platform of satellite IOD-2, designed to enable flexible, high-performance in-orbit demonstration of advanced technologies. This mission is more than a technology demonstrator, it is a critical step toward a new generation of navigation services, enhancing robustness against interference, increasing system resilience, and strengthening Europe’s technological independence. Strong collaboration across European industry and institutions continues to be the driving force behind such achievements, and we are proud to be part of it. The journey toward a scalable LEO-PNT ecosystem has begun. #ThalesAleniaSpace #Space #LEOPNT #SatelliteNavigation #NewSpace #Europe #Innovation #GOS #Exolaunch #ESA
