In Slay the Spire 2, Hidden Gem will enchant a random card in your Draw Pile with Replay, allowing you to play it multiple times while only paying its cost once. As you'd imagine, this can lead to rampant power spiking if it lands on the right card in your deck. As the name suggests, however, you'll need some luck for a chance to find it. In this Slay the Spire 2 guide, we'll explain how to obtain the Hidden Gem card and how the Replay effect works.

Hidden Gem is a colorless card that costs (1) Energy to play. Being a colorless card means that there's only a select few ways to obtain it. However, it's usable by all five characters in Slay the Spire 2.

The most common method to find Hidden Gem is through the Merchant. Look for the bags of gold on your map and plan a route that leads you to a shop. The Merchant sells a variety of wares, including five character-specific cards, three relics, three potions, and two choices of colorless cards. If you're lucky, Hidden Gem could be one of those two choices.

The Merchant's items for sale will change every time you visit them. If you don't find Hidden Gem the first time you visit, try finding the Merchant at a different location for another chance.

Unknown Events

Another method of obtaining Hidden Gem is via Unknown rooms (indicated by a question mark on your map), which will often give you the choice to obtain a colorless card. If you're lucky, you may receive the Hidden Gem that way.

Although some Ancients in Slay the Spire 2 will sometimes offer a choice of Colorless cards to add to your deck, it's not confirmed if Hidden Gem can be obtained from them.

Relics and Cards

If you're unable to find a Hidden Gem through a Merchant, there's still hope. Certain Relics and cards in Slay the Spire 2 will grant you methods to add colorless cards to your deck, either permanently or just in your current combat.

Relics that help you obtain colorless cards include:

  • Dingy Rug: Card rewards can now contain Colorless cards.
  • Toolbox: At the start of each combat, choose 1 of 3 random Colorless cards and add the chosen card into your Hand.
  • Orange Dough: At the start of each combat, add 2 random Colorless cards into your Hand.

Some cards will also add Colorless cards into your Hand or your Draw Pile. The Regent, in particular, has several cards that help.

How Replay Works in Slay the Spire 2

Replay is a new effect in Slay the Spire 2 that causes cards to be played additional times based on their Replay value. Hidden Gem grants Replay 2 on a random card in your Draw Pile, which means that whenever that card is played, it's then played an additional two times for the rest of combat.

Almost any card affected by Hidden Gem will be of huge benefit to you. Even if it lands on a Strike or a Defend – that's still effectively three Strikes or three Defends for the price of one. Best of all, Hidden Gem will not Exhaust when played, so it's possible to use it as many times as you can draw it in combat.

If you manage to find a Hidden Gem card, it's absolutely worth it to add to your deck. Decks that contain several Power cards, in particular, could potentially snowball from its effect, making your character an unstoppable force for the rest of your run.

If you're having trouble during your runs, our Slay the Spire 2 essential tips and tricks may be just what you need to succeed.
