Have you ever wondered why Ranged classes are so overpowered in Mistfall Hunter? Tactical positioning, access to powerful AoE CC skills, and above all else: the ability to land critical hits with ease with their ranged attacks. However, their superiority has a cost: Their HP pool and defenses are the lowest of all classes, making them squishy targets that experienced players can overwhelm with ease.
If you want to become truly unstoppable using a Ranged Class in Mistfall Hunter, then this guide that also works as a Tier List might help you figure out which class and archetype is the best for you. With a complete overview of each build, its strengths, optimal talents, affixes, and gameplay tips to lead you to victory in each encounter.
Stardust Sorcerer - S+ Tier
- Preferred Affixes: Eloquence, Ranged, Seamless
- Greatest Advantage: A walking nuke. Can obliterate 3 players in only one combo. Absolutely broken CC.
Ever since Mistfall Hunter released, there's a build that has had to be nerfed three times already: The Stardust Sorcerer. This archetype is so powerful that even with all the balance changes enforced, they can't stop its raw power. To make readers understand how strong this build is, you can basically kill all players in an AoE radius no matter how many there are, and they won't be able to move.
It relies heavily on its Stardust Tempest + Gravitational Vortex + Meteor Charm combo, a series of skills that, when combined with certain talents, can unleash a torrent of destruction upon a group of enemies (or a single target), resulting in their inevitable demise.
This powerful combo can be released in the middle of a teamfight to obliterate all enemy melee opponents, or used over a choke point (hallway, gate, entrance, etc.) to take the enemies by surprise and eliminate them before they can even react.
You need to pick the Chant Guard + Stardust Arcana + Stardust Reversal from the Supreme Arcana Talent Pool (its in the first page, upper left corner). This will apply the Hastened Chant effect for all Stardust spells, plus, allow you to press Left Alt (on PC) to skip the chant phase of all Stardust Spells. This should be used as follows: Skip Chant + Gravitational Vortex + Full Cast of Stardust Tempest + Full Cast of Meteor Charm.
Meteor Charm can also be upgraded by choosing the No Escape talent, increasing its damage and AOE when fully charged. Storm Impact is also a useful talent, since it will add a CC effect to the Stardust Tempest, reducing the dodge distance and move speed of all foes trapped on it. The definitive combo.
Sniper Blackarrow - S Tier
- Preferred Affixes: Ranged, Valor, Swift
- Greatest Advantage: Sniping, the largest attack range in the game, can land devastating headshots.
The Sniper Blackarrow relies on maximizing its attack range using the Ranged Affix, and landing devastating and precise blows from a privileged distance. Each time you land a shot, you increase your maximum Attack Distance (that is, if the Ranged Affix is at Lv. 7), empowering this build even more.
Using Paralysis Arrow + Sky Piercer+ Rapid Shot combos, the Sniper Blackarrow trades its characteristic versatility of the Trapper Archetype for a more sustained-damage-focused build, with an emphasis on destroying opponents with critical shots.
Colossal Power, the Talent that makes all charged shots load faster, is critical for this build. So are Measured Pace, Marksman, and Dodge Power Shot.
Unstoppable Edge is another talent you need to pick, since it converts part of the damage of Sky Piercer into True Damage. On the other hand, Neurotoxin (page two from Arrow Mastery) will empower Paralysis Arrow to leave a lingering effect that reduces the cooldown recovery speed of enemies. A lethal combo that can obliterate critical targets like Withered Knights or Seers before they can deploy their troublesome skills.
Ice Sorcerer - S Tier
- Preferred Affixes: Eloquence, Ranged, Seamless
- Greatest Advantage: Master of Crowd Control, can deep freeze opponents and detonate a powerful elemental effect
After the latest nerfs on the Ice Effects of the Elemental Sorcerer, Mistfall Hunter players are wondering if this build is still viable. And, as a matter of fact, it is still running strong despite the cooldown increases on the Crystal Icebolt Spell. These nerfs can be countered with the Seamless affix, which, at level 7, brings up to 21 % CDR, which makes casting spells quite easy.
Since most of the PvP Strategy of the Elemental Sorcerer relies on resource management having less cooldown time to worry about is a significant advantage. More so with a build focused on dishing out elemental effects and controlling the battlefield using freezing spells.
Crystal Icebolt and Deep Freeze are your main spells. Both work well at short distance, nullifying melee foes like no other combo of CC-focused attacks. You need Arcane Charge to reduce the base cooldown of Crystal Icebolt, plus the Masterful Technique + Elemental Arcana + Elemental Surge talent branch to unleash the powerful combo effects of Fire Bolt and Deep Freeze.
Complete your build with Shadow Veil, empowered by the Divine Speed talent, then dive in the middle of an opponent's group while Invisibility is activated to deliver a Deep Freeze + Crystal Icebolt combo. Finish them using Fire Bolts. This build is quite simple to use: Just freeze and repeat for the win.
